I know this helped me when I lost my 11 year old dog this year. This is what I used to tell my then 5 year old that his lil' Millie girl had passed away. He was so precious, helping him grieve, helped me. There are those of us here at DK and everywhere that could really use a good story like this to help them grieve. Some of you already know about it, so here it is again!

Thanks for posting - this seems timely given a few DKers have lost their beloved dogs lately.
Love this....thanks for posting. We had an old lab that we rescued and she came with a host of problems....anixiety, severe separation anxiety, etc. We loved that dog, but she was very, very hard. When we had to put her to sleep the receptionist said she would be waiting in heaven for me when it was my time and I said, "am I going to heaven or hell?" and we both laughed. It was just what I needed at such a difficult time and I do hope they will all be waiting for me when I get there :)
Well you were a saint for caring for a dog like that. They all give us unconditional love, not as often do humans opt to give that same love back. My Millie was a little hard too. She had surgery when she was younger and always suffered a bit from intestinal stuff. She kind of ruined my old house and some furniture with her constant accidents. I understand the stress you must have endured.
I love this poem and the concept of a "Rainbow Bridge".  On a side note, there's a pet boarding facility somewhere here in the bay area called the Rainbow Bridge.  I would NEVER board Sedona there for obvious reasons...
Weirdness! What were they thinking? That would work great for a doggy hospice though!
beautiful. Made me cry
Oooh, how sweet! Cry in a good way! I did too when I read it for the first time.
This poem was given to me from the crematory when I picked up the urn for Butter. It helps me to picture him healthy and happy.....
I know, I love the part where it describes Spring weather, lots of grass and hills. I picture bright sunny day with lush soft green grass and my dog laying on her back in it with Jesus scratching her tummy for her.
This is so beautiful.  I have never read this before, thanks for posting it.
The tears are running down my face!
Man, this gets to me every time I see it! When I was a little girl, I attended Sunday School. I had a beagle back then. I loved that dog so much that one day I asked my Sunday School teacher if our pets would be in Heaven. The teacher said that Heaven would be so wonderful that you wouldn't even need or miss your pet. I disagreed then and I still do.
Heaven wouldn't be complete without the animals that we love/loved!
