The Raw Debate

I've always come across a bag or two of kibble at the pet store that is raw food-based. I'm seeing a lot of DK members who feed their dog this kind of food and I want to know exactly how it differs from regular food, and why owners choose to purchase this over the latter. Its just very confusing to me.. I'm thinking that its really just what suits your dog individually regardless of being raw or not but there must be some reason other than that!

No scientific or nutritional reason, that much I can tell you. :)

I feel it is very much a personal preference and usually coincides with how the owners view real/natural/organic foods for themselves. It just seems to make sense that we would want our dogs to have the same. Now having said that, is there an advantage? Not really sure. But if someone is feeding raw, they need to research the dogs nutritional needs, provide the correct amounts of macronutrients and be prepared to add supplements in the right amounts to give him a well rounded diet.  Maybe the prepackaged raw food products have done that work for you, but I have not researched any.

I prefer kibble because the scent of 'meaty dog or cat foods'  is yucky to me, the ease of storage, and the longevity of kibble.
