Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

As I've mentioned before, we adopted Harlow as a 10-month-old puppy at our local shelter. She was found wandering around downtown Omaha, dirty, matted, starving and full of worms. But she had the most gorgeous face and a temperment to match and we had to adopt her.

We always thought she was a doodle, most likely a goldendoodle, but never could be sure. Most of you agreed! Well I ordered a Wisdom Panel Insights DNA test and sent in her swabs and the results are finally in!!!

Harlow is......a standard goldendoodle! Her results showed 50% golden retriever and 50% standard poodle.

I was worried the results may not be all too accurate, as I have heard doggie DNA tests aren't always reliable quite yet, but Harlow's results are spot on and just what I thought they would be! But for the record, she could be half and half anything and she would still be greatly loved!

It still perplexes and saddens me that someone could abandon such a truly great dog. And not just Harlow...dogs like her are left in shelters or on the streets everyday. Harlow goes to show that even expensive, in-demand dogs aren't safe from the shelters. It worries me that the doodle's popularity even increases the amount of indescriminate breeders out there...

Anyway, just thought I'd share the results for everyone that was curious! It glad I ordered the test, it was a fun experience!

Harlow is now not only a beauty, but an authentic "purebred" beauty.

Are we crazy about our doodles or what?
Everytime I see Harlow...I just fall in love with her!! She's "beautitul"!!
I would have been surprised if the test came back anything other than an F1 Goldendoodle...only because she looks just like Sasha to me. (smile)
You are a very "special "family to rescue Harlow...bring her into your home and shower her with love...and I know that you feel that you are the "blessed" ones!! Both correct...
I know you will enjoy many wonderful memories together...
Haha, wow one of those tests was actually accurate??! Before we got Bella we had two hienz dogs (mixed with everything under the sun). So before they passed we decided to test them. Our short haired spotted dog (whom we were told was a springer-collie mix when we got her, but grew into more of a springer-hound looking pup) came out as a Belgian Tervuren, boxer mix! We were so confused we got them to do it again for free, it was slightly different but basicall the same. For those of you who don't know, the tervuren is kind of like a long haired German shephard... Rosie was a white dog with a black eye and ticking...? Our other dog was slightly more believable, as he was a black and tan Australian shephard looking dog, who came out with all black and tan dog results except for his main breed... a mastiff. Lucky was a forty pound dog, so all we can guess is that it was a Tibetan mastiff (who is black and tan) and that he didn't get it's size... Hmmm. I'm glad yours was accurate, we've teased that if we sent Bella's DNA in that they would tell us that she was a chihuahua!
