Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have a young Niece that spends time with us on school vacations. She has always been very interested in the Foster Dogs that we have had and their stories about why they are in rescue. She gets sad when she sees the commercials on TV from the ASPCA. She loves helping me with training the girls and they love her. She and I share the same birthday so it is always a special day for us. I've been planting the bug for a couple years now about maybe she could have kids bring presents for the Animal Shelter Dogs rather than bring presents for her to her party! This was the year, and today was her party! She got to invite more friends since she was asking for gifts for the dogs, so 20 girls were invited. Not all could make it, and have said they will be dropping off their donations so there's more to come for the dogs. The shelter has a wish list on Amazon that shows what items they use & need, so it was easy for planning purposes. Very proud of her!
She has pretty much grown up around the girls as she was just about 3 when we got them.

Thank you for sharing. Obviously she has had a good great example to learn from!!!
Happy Birthday to both of you.
Aunt Sheri, your niece is lovely and she is learning from the very best. Happy belated birthday to both of you.
Happy Birthday to US. It is my Birthday too! What a wonderful girl. I remember when she was so tiny. She has grown to be beautiful both inside and out.... and thanks to you for helping her become that way!
you took your age and DOB off your profile too? HA! Chicken :)
J- It is on my profile. Doesn't show up yet as our actual b-day is the 23rd. She just had her party for her friends on the week-end as Mom works through the week.
Not surprising that the apple didn't fall from the tree!!! She is an incredibly thoughtful, sweet young lady!!!
Happy Birthday to you both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So true Adrianne:)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the picture of Emma all dressed up and in her cowboy boots! What a wonderful example you have set for her - a livelong lesson. She is certainly a very special girl.
Thanks everyone. She is a sweet girl. We will spend our actual b-day which is Tuesday together most likely doing something that I'm much too old to do. However, I figure there won't be too many more that she wants to spend with Aunt Sheri so I'll take them while I can get them. Now I just need to convince her to go to Vet School, lol!
I've always loved that photo of your niece with the "dressed up Doodles". This is such a wonderful idea and a perfect life lesson. Happy Birthday to two very special "dog loving" girls!
Not only a very special girl for giving up her own gifts - and at 9 years old that is very impressive - but she is so pretty! Love her cowgirl boots! You should be proud, Sherri! Happy Birthday to both of you!
