Okay...  I give up!  Can't say I didn't try though!  We just bought Tori a new toy, we'll call it a Valentine's gift.  It was made from "virtually indestructible" fire hose material.  Well, we played with it for a while with her, went in the other room for 5 minutes and there it was, with a great big HOLE in it.  Guess we'll just stick to balls and nylabones... HUH! so sad....

Well put! But I don't think cardboard would last more than a few seconds before it's ingested!! LOL
Yep ingested. Although, .............. this will sound funny but with my old dog I used to mow the lawn and paper would fly. If I missed a pile and the heat and sun would dry the pile, paper would POOF through the air. Most paper does not hurt them ( I think some dyes would not be good though), and I call it roughage.

Yeah, I am crazy. But as I said, if you can't beat them, join them. Let 'em Have At It! It certainly beats $20.00 of wasted stuffed toys. Now that is stuffing I think would be harmful if swallowed.
Hear, Hear! LOL
Just think you are being very eco friendly using the trash for more then one thing! very green.
I think I am going to save some money and do the same thing. very smart idea!!!!
I really like the real marrow bones for chewing and even for treats as i fill them after they are empty of the marrow, with peanut butter and yogurt and freeze them. They can chip little pieces off if they chew on them a long time, but then I throw them away. But they are tiny little chips and nothing that would cause blockage for sure. THey are perfect for cleaning thier teeth and all natural. I go to a butcher who cuts them and freezes them so I know they are very fresh.
They are pretty cheap and very indestructible, it takes months to wear them to the point of chipping. Anyone else use them?
Me, me, me!!! :o) I love them! You can also wash them with soap and water if they get dirty. I watch them closely though. Eventually they do break in half and I throw them away. You can also get them a pet stores with yummy coatings on them.
Hmmm. That's a possibility!
OFCOURSE!!!! So that's where Murphy learned to love his marrow bones!!!!! All makes sense to me now.

I have even put them in the dishwasher!! Yes, watching them close is a must, but isn;t that true with anything they chew? Even the INDESTRUCTABLE toys?
LOL, I do too!!!! I was afraid to admit it though, but since you have, I will! Top rack in the dishwasher works well!

I totally agree, ALL toys have the potential to be harmful. They need to be checked regularly for signs of wear and break down.
I think I even read to do that here in the food group....or maybe in one of the 100 dog books I've read. Afraid to admit it.....YOU? What were you afraid of? Someone thinking you were a too overprotective doodle mommy/breeder? I also wash the dog bowls in the dishwasher...what's that make me? hahahahha
Are you saying I have a big mouth, Sue??? :o)

No, I was worried that someone would say it's dangerous to put them in the dishwasher because the hot water could break it down or make it splinter. I worried about that initially, but have never had a problem. BTW, I wash dogs bowls and puppy toys in the dishwasher! In fact, my dishwasher is running right now and there are puppy toys in it!
I have thought about that, but the ones you buy are sterilized and that must be with heat or at least steam. I don't feel as tho my dishwasher "cooks" the bones, so I took a chance too. Never had a problem either. BTW.....you sent us Murphy one year ago today!!!!! He had a wonderful Valentines Day Doodle Romp today....He sure is my Valentine.
And did you notice how I avoided the "big mouth" question? But no, I do not think of you that way, just someone who says what is needed, when it is needed. Unlike me, I just spew it out whenever!!!!
