I'm wondering how many of you WRAP your doodles presents?

I have been trying to teach Tara not to tear up paper for 2 years now and was concerned about sending her a mixed message if I allowed her to tear up the paper to unwrap her presents.  So I didn't wrap them even though I think it is really cute to watch them open their presents (always wrapped presents for former dogs).

So Tara received wrapped presents from BandyBear and I set them in front of her and she just looked at me. I couldn't bring myself to encourage her to rip into them because she truly believes it is something she isn't supposed to do.

Do you think it is confusing for them to be allowed to rip paper one or two days a year and then get reprimanded for it the rest of the year?  Will it "undo" former training?

I think it is confusing and the wrapping is for us not them. I think they appreciate unwrapped presents just as much>
I didnt wrap Coopers presents as she loves ripping paper too much, I didnt want her to think it was ok
Sorry TaraBear!!  I didn't mean to confuse ya!!!  No wrapping from now on!! LOL!! BandyBear!
I still liked lookin' at it!! They were beautiful!!! :)

Shame on you, Suzann! Encouraging Tara to tear up paper and trying to undo all Ricki's hard work training her not to do that!

ROFLMAO

hey what can I say... I am the anti-training doodle mom, I mean can't they just do what they want, whenever they want, where ever they want??  That is why I started Bad Doods, is it really any fun to have a well behaved doodle??

It's people like you that gave Cesar Milan gray hair!!
Yep!! I am just trying to make them bad enough to make it on TV... But I was thinking more Victoria Stilwell!! Tomorrow they will learn to eat a couch and turn on the stove!!
I did not wrap their Christmas presents.  Both of mine love to shred paper and I too have been trying to get them to stop.  I did not what to send a mixed message by encouraging them to tear the wrapping paper. They loved their presents even without wrapping paper.
That is what I thought too. And Tara couldn't be happier with her presents-paper or no paper!
I unwrapped theirs for them because I couldn't wait to give them their bones until Christmas..heeheee.  They were in desperate need of some new chew items and most of their old bones were buried in the snow.  I too worried about the paper shredding inconsistency. And they honestly wouldn't have had a clue. That and I just don't think they think of 'gifts' like we do.  You know how most men couldn't care less about wrapping? Well dogs I'd say are like that but worse.
They probably see the paper as something annoying that is slowing them down trying to get to the "good stuff"!  I'm not sure if I am talking about men or dogs!! Both I guess!!  LOL!
