Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi all,
This is my first post as a new member! Sadly it's because my poor 2 year old doodle, Sarge was playing a little too rough with a friend's dog and one of his front teeth was knocked back. We were able to put it back in place and it doesn't seem loose but is a bit red. He also can't pick up any of his toys. It happened on Saturday and the vet said to keep an eye on it before we bring him in to get it extracted. Have any other doodle owners had this happen? I feel terrible for my little guy!

So, your vet has not had a look~ see but the area is painful and red.

I'd certainly want my dog seen in this case. Today!   Red, besides trauma inflammation could also mean infection and  isnt worth waiting until an extraction somewhere down the line.

Geesh, poor dog must be in so much pain!!

I'm so sorry.

Yes, I agree with Joanne.  It may just be very bruised from the trauma, but infection is something I would want to rule out by now. GOod luck.

Some areas have vets that specialize in animal dentistry. If you have one in your area it might be good to have them take a look at Sarge's tooth. They would have more knowledge regarding ways to save it. Hope he is feeling better soon. He must have taken quite a blow to knock a tooth loose!

I would call and try to speak with an animal dentist in your area, if you cannot bring him in right away. It might even be possible to save Sarge's tooth.

At first I saw this and assumed you had a puppy and was like, "and your problem is...?" :P

Otherwise, I agree with Ricki and Joanne. I'd get it looked at by someone specializing in dentistry. Hopefully it's a small tooth... what is it? Incisor, canine?

I can't imagine what he must be going through. This is perhaps my biggest fear as a human. The dentist sucks.

Thank you so much everyone for your replies. Sarge is back to himself, the inflammation has subsided and he and his tooth are going to be just fine!

Awesome.

Hooray!

Great news!

That's great news.  How did the tooth get back into its original place?
