Hey all

Before I got Hattie I traveled four months out of the year for work during the week. Then they promoted me and said "Sure get a dog! You don't have to travel anymore." Yay I said! One year later I am back to being on the road some.

Hattie had her first hotel experience this week and did ok. She was nervous at first and it was hard on her being locked in her crate all day even though I gave her lots of breaks. She didn't eat much for three days but drank plenty. She learned to LOVE the elevator! Funny since I thought it would be awful for her.

Anyway, her steel crate is really heavy!!! I am looking at one like this and wondered what you all thought or if there are better ideas or a better product I have not found? Need to order right away since I have to go again for two days in two weeks! My only fear is this may be a little hot but it would be easier to carry in and out of the hotel by myself.

Thanks everyone!!!

This looks like a great idea!

Have you googled to see if you can find one with wheels.  Seems like there should be some.  That would make it easier to move in and out of the hotel.

I agree with Karen. The Noz2Noz crate is terrific. I purchased mine after researching travel crates extensively and reading reviews on various websites. I'm very happy with the sturdy material and construction. It's so much more convenient than my heavy wire crate or the Vari-Kennel for travel. Would highly recommend.
I am babysitting my sister's pug for nearly a week. She has the nylon crate that Karen is showing and really seems to like it! It sure is SO much lighter than the crates I have!

They can if they really go at it! There are several brands that make crates like that (the pet store I worked at sold tuff crates). It had windows all round, but with covers for if you wanted it dark.

I was looking at the reviews of those soft crates and they can break the zips, get out and tip them over!  I think you would need to test them at home and that it might be an expensive waste of money however nice they look.  The hard plastic with the handle and wheels would be my preferred option.

I bought a cheap one for Luca when he was just a pup. He had it tipped over in no time flat. I'm sure a dog who wanted to wold be out of such a crate in about the same time.

We have the plastic type of kennel you have pictured above, only ours has attachable, locking wheels and a handle. I will have to look at the brand when I get home, but it works great. I really like those collapsible crates though! I might have to pick a couple of those up! As far as traveling and staying in hotels with dogs goes, it gets way easier. My brother is a hockey player and my parents travel to where his games are all the time, always with the dogs in tow. Once their dogs got used to the noise and general atmosphere of being in a hotel they did great.

I have this one: http://www.petstreetmall.com/Day-Tripper-Soft-Dog-Crate/5276/2151/d...

Both of my dogs can fit in it at the same time, it fits in the back of the Subaru, and is easy to put together.
