Trifexis?

What is your opinon on Trifexis the all in one Flea & heartworm chewable?

My vet stared Cocoa on this a couple months ago and we are about to give her round 3.  I went online to see if I can order it cheaper since my vet is charging $27.00 a month for this.... and I did I find I can save $100 a year to order online. But this is only if my vet will give the script for it.

Well after reading reviews I got scared seeing dogs having issues after this. But then others commented this could happen with any flea or heart worm product and you have to figure out if you want to chance the heart worms/fleas or the meds?

My yorkies we always did the Heart Gaurd chewables and Advantage flea.  But I hated that they would have greasy necks for a couple days.

My Bailey will get her 3rd dose this weekend...First two rounds no problems!!  And no fleas...We live in FL and the flea and ticks are supposed to be aweful here due to the mild winter..

 

I would think your vet would respect your wishes and give you a RX.  You might also check your area to see if you have a low cost Humane Society or ASPCA sponsored clinic.  Sometimes they will have it in stock for a fraction of the cost too

Bexter has been on this, and now Maggie just had her first dose of Trifexis as well.  Both of them had to up the dose too because of their weights, so I was concerned they may have side effects from that.  So far, none.  Bexter is a year old & never had a problem.  I always give it to him with food, so maybe that helps.  I don't know.

I gave Sadie Trifexis for three months and each time it gave her bad diarrhea, so my vet suggested the 6-month heartworm preventative injection and she's had no side effects at all, and she gets Comfortis for fleas. I thought that the injection would be very expensive but it was significantly cheaper than six months of Trifexis.
