Well, Murphy and I headed out for a nice calm walk/run this morning. Just a perfect day, sun shining, light breeze, could hear the ocean waves breaking on the shore. Good day for a run. We haven't run for a few weeks so we both were really having fun, when all of a sudden, Mr. Murphy decides he wants to be on the right side instead of the left where he ALWAYS is.
Hardly EVER crosses in front and especially not while we're running. So....being the graceful runner that I am, I avoid stomping on my dear doodle and before I know it I come face to face with shell-rock pavement !!! Hitting and scraping both knees, hands, elbows and left shoulder, while taking most of the force with my NOSE! Yeah, did I say graceful? Total face plant!
After I assessed my injuries, tried to feel if I still had all my teeth, and if I could get up, I realized Murphy was sitting right by my side....as close as he could get. Not running away, not playing with his leash, not even going for the bag of liver treats I was carrying. It was so sweet. Made me just love him more cuz I know he was feeling something. Not sure what, but it was nice to have a friend by your side when you are hurting so bad.

Well, after about 8 hours of ice packs, 4 Motrin, 2 Cosmopolitans and some ice cream, I think I'm okay. I look like Rocky Balboa after 9 rounds....but what the heck....I have my doodle!!!! And he loves me!
PS. Pretty sure the nose isn't broken, but it I'll know more when the swelling goes down some.

Ouch! I sure hope your nose isn't broken, and the pain & swelling go away quickly.
I had a similar incident a couple of winters ago, and Jack did the same thing Murph did...sat by my side anxiously trying to see if I was okay. Which was a good thing, because we were on the pavement in the middle of the street.
Doodle love is absolutely the best! Hope you feel better soon!
OMG Sue, I hope you are feeling better, try and take something overnight so you don't wake up sore and hurting more tomorrow. I am always amazed at how well in tune my dogs are to how I am feeling. They know the good and bad days and really try and help. They are always at my side and I know a another Doodle who is always by his Mom's side also when she is not feeling so good. They just are truly the loves of our lives....Prayers and hope you heal quickly....

Thanks Karen.....it's nothing the right drugs can't take care of.....oh, the advantages of being a nurse and having nurse friends with drugs. All legal ofcourse. I just won't look in the mirror for a few days.
Sue, you made me laugh. Sorry! I couldn't help it. :) Murphy is such a great doodle for not running away! Hope you have a fast recovery!
Heck Susan, I have learned to laugh at myself a lot. Hopefully I'll have recovered by the time we meet at our AZ Doodle Romp. Got some good ideas for it too. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.
You did the right thing....I find a couple of Cosmos along with some ice cream can cure almost anything. Murphy must really love you not to immediately snatch those liver treats. Hope you feel better.
Told ya being a nurse had it's advantages, I prescribed the cosmo/ice cream cure and felt better in about 20 minutes. Found myself laughing everytime i went by a mirror, was cracking myself up!
Think of it this way, Sue...some people spend thousands to get their honkers reshaped...Murph helped you do it for free!

Hope the swelling goes down quickly!
I know Ned loves me, but I seriously think he would nose out those treats. He might offer me one as a consolation......
Yikes! Sounds like a dangerous sport! Better switch to bungee jumping! lol
Sue~ So sorry to hear of your accident, hope you will be feeling back to normal soon. Just think, you'll have a great story to tell people about your scars.
