Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I just chose my first mini goldendoodle, he's six weeks old.
I've always thought I might want two. He has one sister left. Any thoughts, suggestions would be be appreciated about getting his sister now instead of waiting another year or so.

Pro and cons would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Your story would certainly give me pause, Lisa.  Hope it works out, as it might as they mature.

Lisa, thanks for your candid reply. I sure hope things will get better soon, they are still young, still time.
Hopefully soon you can look back at this as a distant memory.
What have you decided Leslie?
Hi Sue,

Thanks for asking, we have decided to only get Yogi at this time. I've gotten such great input from everyone who responded. I think I will get yogi, get him well trained, then maybe give him a brother or sister at a later date :-)
Maybe even try to find a rescue dog, I'm so touched by the people on this forum who have given these deserving dogs a loving home.

I had originally been thinking of a two dog household, then saw yogi's sister and thought why not? But after listening to all the comments I think I'll wait, and enjoy each puppy separately.

Won't be long now, I get to pick him up October 26th!

Leslie, I'm happy to hear that! True, others have had great experiences with two puppies at once but it's such a gamble. I feel badly for our two that we didn't give them the chance to have a family's sole attention.

But I am hopeful! They haven't had a really bad fight in a while, so maybe they'll work it out. I do hope their temperaments even out when they are out of the puppy stage! It might turn out to be wonderful for them and us.

As usual, I'm late to the party. :p. I see, you have made the very wise decision, to start out with one puppy and hopefully add a second down the line. I can guarantee you will be thrilled with your decision once your little one gets home. Raising a puppy can be a fun and rewarding experience , but at times, you'll want to pull your hair out and wonder what the hell you were thinking! As cute as they are, they are masters at pushing our buttons!
Looking forward to hearing all about your new little one...and by the way.....the picture is absolutely adorable!
