No matter the opinions my heart is just broken for these two adorable doodles...a cruel hand they have been dealt for sure.
I believe he said that the Dam and others from her litter were retired. He didn't address the Sire or any of the offspring of the Dam or Sire.
I think the question about the sire is a very good one. I know that this breeder lost two puppies in June, who died of uncertain causes, just before they were supposed to go to their new homes. Was that litter sired by the same dog who sired these two puppies?
I agree Lisa totally. I can't even look at the picture with out tearing up. What a life.
I don't think that we need to be so cynical and automatically assume the worst about someone. I agree that the lineage needs to be broken, no more dogs bred from that line at all. I think a lot of things but that doesn't change the fact that these two dogs need a home.
I also think it was good that the breeder took the puppies back and came out public with the fact that the dogs have issues, which a lot of breeders would not do out of fear of their business being effected. I know a lot of breeders would have put those puppies down and no one would have been the wiser.. So I also applaud you for coming out and risking your business for the good of these puppies.
The only thing I would ask of the breeder is to not just say they have a special dietary requirement. It is a lot, lot more than that. People fall in love with these puppies then realize that they are going to spend the entire dogs life trying to keep the dog as healthy as can be....
For me it isn't the money, though I don't have any, The emotional pain of seeing something I love suffer would put me over the edge.
I hope the breeder finds help.... I don't think we need to assume the worst about him maybe someone on here can help. I don't think the breeder should tax a rescue group with these dogs as they have so much on their hands as it is. I think the breeder should be the foster parent until you find them homes, then possibly offer to pay money to the people who are willing to take them into a forever home to help offset the astronomical expenses.
I don't think anyone is trying to talk down to anyone. The facts are the facts - asking for help is one thing - trying to gloss over the seriousness of the condition is something else. Look at their web site where is says that they are looking for special homes for two goldendoodle puppies that have special needs that require a specialized diet. Really? Thats all? And to call them Rescue puppies - really? Rescued from their own breeder? Misleading at best although I do believe in the end - that is what they will end up as.
I totally agree they need to state much more clearly what the seriousness of the disease is. To say it is just something that requires a special diet is totally misleading and someone can think that was not a big deal which we all know is....
Roberta - this man CREATED these puppies - he did not rescue them and it is misleading to call them such. He makes money by breeding Goldendoodles and he should be prepared to pay for their life long medical bills if not care for them directly. He has never said anything about using the Sire again or any of the offspring from the Dam or Sire. What makes me disgusted is the suffering that poor dogs are going to endure for their entire life.
I hope someone truly "rescues" these little ones but in the event that they can not find a suitable home, one with big hearts and deep pockets that understands fully the largeness of their ailment, then sadly if Billy can't keep them they should have a peaceful passing with a caring Vet. I would not want them to suffer the heartache of rehome after rehome to end up later in some shelter unloved and not cared for which would mean they will suffer :o(
I agree, Lisa.
This is when I wish I was rich!
