Wow! What an aweful few days. I do see a light at the end of the tunnel though. Yesterday after waiting and waiting for the x ray results, they came back the same as they were yesterday morning. I knew then they would need to keep her. I did go and see her yesterday evening. She was not quite herself, but she did give me kisses and put her head on my shoulder. I cried and cried. She was just so pitiful. They were going to do tests on the pancreatitis and some more blood work. They said they would call me when they got the results back. I went home and cried some more. It was just aweful. They called and said Allie results came back negative for the pancreatitis and her electrolytes and other blood work was normal, so now they are thinking either a really bad stomach problem or an obstruction. They were going to do a sonogram in the morning to see if they could determine anything else.

This morning I woke up early and called them to see how she had done last night. I was not able to talk with the doctor but they said they would have her call as soon as she could. Apparently, Labor Day is not the best day to have a dog in the hospital. With no regular vets open, everyone is bringing their dog into the hospital. It is now 2:20 and I still have not heard from the vet, BUT I did go and see Allie again today. She looks so much better. She livened up when she saw me and proceeded to climb up in my lap and give me many kisses and lay down so I could rub on her. I told her she needed to get better so we could go for a RIDE. Boy, you should have seen her little face light up. I thought "there's my girl". I am irritated with the hospital though. They said they were so backed up they had not had a chance to do the sonogram. They said I could have it done at my regular vet's office tomorrow. The plan right now is to have another x ray (apparently they have time to do that) at about 4 and I am to call them for the results around 5. I am saying prayers that it shows a vast improvement in her intestines. Her intestine's are a little swollen in one place. I have a friend who is a pediatrician and he said if she has diarrhea he doubts it is an obstruction. So now I wait and wait. Thank you EVERYONE for the kind words of encouragement and the prayers. They are especially appreciated!!!! Allie sends wet Doodle kisses!

I am so glad Allie is feeling a bit better!  I know how frustrated you must be having to wait for the tests!  We still have fingers and paws crossed that she is on the road to recovery and just needs some TLC and rest.  Doodle hugs to you and Allie!

Wow, not so sure I would be very happy with that hospital at the moment if I were you.  Keeping her but not having time to do anything just doesn't seem right!  She was obviously there ahead of all those others!  However, glad to hear that she was looking like she was feeling a little better today over last night.  Fingers crossed that it turns out to be something very simple and quickly fixable.  Will be watching for another update.

I know! Especially when the bill right now is $2200 and will be more by tomorrow I'm sure. When we call to ask to talk with the vet (I kind of feel like she is working for US), we are told she will call when she gets a chance. Yesterday we waited 2 hours and I had my husband call back (he was reluctant to and I told him to get over it we were paying good money to have her there). When the vet called back and I could hear her on the line, she was kind of snooty saying that she has had so many emergencies and was going to call us back. I kind of feel like I am between a rock and a hard place because I want them to give Allie the best care possible. I don't want them to take out anything on her especially when I can't make sure. Ugh It is just so hard. I just want to know definitively what is wrong and get going on making it right.

I would, like you, just be concerned about Allie at this point but I'd certainly be giving them a piece of my mind when it was all over.  I know it is frustrating when the bill is so high and so far they haven't even diagnosed her with anything.  Sort of like the mechanic fixing one thing but the car still won't start so he tries something else but you still have to pay for the first thing.  Hang in there.

What a stressful and scary weekend you've had.  This news sounds very hopeful.  I'm so glad it isn't pancreatitis.  I'll be anxious to hear what the sonogram shows.  Thanks for keeping us updated.

I hope Allie continues to improve and is home soon.

The fact that she is still stable is a good sign...the animal hospitals tend to give more attention to the most critical. I know its the Labor day weekend and all but they should get that sonogram done as promised and be more civil.

Wishing for the best and really soon too.  I'll be watching for your good news

I'm glad Allie is better today. I hope she keeps improving and they can give you an answer soon.

I know what you are going through.  It is so hard to wait for tests and results.  Keeping fingers and paws crossed that little Allie is just fine!

I hope you get some answers soon. But at least she seemed a little better today.

I'm glad Allie is feeling a little better. Keep us updated, thinking of you guys.
