I hate to ask this of anyone but I didn’t know where else to post this.  I received this link concerning a doodle in Illinois that needs immediate assistance as he is currently in a high kill shleter.  In fact it may be too late for this dog but the post is still active on PetFinder so I’m praying and crossing my fingers AND posting here in case someone can help.  Unfortunately, I’m not close enough to Illinois to go pick him up but I’m hoping someone is.

The dog is in Jacksonville, Illinois at Morgan County Animal Control: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/26134510

THANKS EVERYONE!

Wow scheduled to be euthanized on Tuesday and adopted out on Monday. That grabs at your heart strings and serves as a strong reminder of the sense of urgency needed when any of us happen upon an animal in need. Trusty's life was spared thanks to compassionate animal lovers who worked hard to get the word out and get him in a new home. Sad to think about if that one more day had passed

DRC executive director Jacquie Yorke had contacted the shelter earlier this week and was told that this guy had been adopted.

Thanks Karen, I was actually in the middle of creating a profile with DRC when I saw this.  Great News!!!

LOL, I just approved it!

Why thank you!

Your best bet when you see this kind of listing on Petfinder (or elsewhere) is to post or send the link to the DRC or IDOG, and then call the shelter to check the dog's status. The public shelters are very slow to update listings, and there is also a time lag when posting or updating a listing with Petfinder. Anyone can contact a public shelter to inquire about a dog.

Just got off the phone (great minds, by the way) and the gentleman I spoke to stated that the dog had been adopted.  I can only hope he actually did.....

THANKS EVERYONE!!!

DK is the best...place...EVER!

Marnie - posting this is perfect!!  The active DK members know who to contact when they see posts like this poor guy. By posting this you have helped educate newer DK members know that they can post doodles needing help. It takes a village to save a doodle!!!

You can post here and you can post to the DRC FB page. That's how I saw his post the other day. I found a family to foster him before the shelter opened the next day!!  On that note, DRC needs foster homes all over the country! If we don't have a doodle foster home for them to go to we cannot get that doodle out of the shelter. If anyone is interested in finding out what fostering for DRC entails, go to our site  doodlerescue.org  (set up the same way as DK) and click on the heading VOLUNTEER. I believe all of your questions will be answered in the post BEFORE YOU FOSTER. You can always ask me if there is something that is not answered. The FOSTER APPLICATION is in the same heading. Thank you for even considering helping to save the life of a doodle!

Great news, I hope this dood's with a good family.  Thanks to you all and the DRC for checking on these sweet doods.

Great News for Trusty!
Good Job, Marnee!

I was told that Trusty went to a retired couple. I pray that they know what life with a doodle is like and Trusty doesn't find his way back to the shelter because he was too much for them.

OMD, I sure hope it's true and he has been adopted. I also hope that will be his forever home.
