Hello all!

I know that most of our doodles do not shed but for those of us that have ones that do -- can anyone recommend a good vacuum cleaner that picks up the hair? Mine is about to die and I want to make sure I get one that does the job!

Thanks-
Shannon

Dysons are great. But I have to warn you that they do not operate themselves. You still have to plug them in, turn them on, and push them around the house. I was hoping mine would work all by itself, so I could spend more time on DK, but no such luck. Halas doesn't shed, but I think the Dyson would be great at picking up dog hair. He does leave little fluffs around once in awhile, and it picks up all of those.
Shannon, I have bought several vacuums and keep going back to my old Electolux. I even bought a new Electrolux and it's not the same. I have a rebuilt one from a vacuum repair shop and buy used parts and have them service. I have 2 of them (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs). My old one I have had for over 20 years. Every new one never works as well as the beater bar attachment on my Electrolux. Good Luck!
My vacuum seems to work great it was a gift not sure on the price. It's a Hoover pet vac rewind 12 amp power it leaves my furniture looking nice=) It came from Home Depot I do know that much, good luck finding a good one. Here's a quick tip i sometimes if I'm in a hurry take a lint roller over my couch & it picks up ALL the doodle hair!! I do that when i get company that calls and say's I'm 2 minutes away from your house yikes!!!
Oski doesn't shed but we used to have a cat that created his own furball tumbleweeds. We have a Miele canister vacuum (not an upright) and it's got a very powerful motor. It sucks out leaf debris that Oski smashes into our 2 inch white shag rug (dastardly doodle!). It's actually so powerful that the owner of the store told us not to vacuum over wet spots in the carpet because it will actually suck the water out which can damage the motor over time. As an added bonus it has a head that swivels 180 degrees so I can vacuum under the bookshelf or sofa without having to move them or get down on my hands & knees--I just twist the handle & push the head under things! I've also gotten rid of my dustpan because I can use it to vacuum the wood floors & tile as well :)
I agree with Leslie, I have a Dyson animal vacuum and it works great! The thing I like about it is that you do not have to buy bags and filters! It is more $ but worth it.
MY HAIR, not Cassie's is our biggest problem. I lose so much hair, I swear it seems like you can make a wig a week from it! I've never had a fancy vacuum, just regular ones from Fred Meyer or Sears, and I would always see some hairs left in the carpet after I've vacuumed... kind of intertwined (is this a word?) with the carpet fibers. A couple of months ago I bought I-Roomba (just because Linens'N'Things was going out of business and I'd always wanted one) - and never looked back :-))) It gets my hair out of the carpet like no other vaccuum before! I still vaccuum with our upright vacuum once a week, because it has better suction, but I-Roomba has better brushes and, I am so happy I bought it - and I run it every day in one room or another! Good luck!
We have a Hoover Elite that works terrificly at picking up pet hair. My husband purchased it a Costco. We have three dogs. One small dachshund and two doodles. One of the doodles shed a bit because his adult hair was coming in. I actually think the other doodle was pulling it out nipping and tugging at him all the time.
Dyson, Dyson, Dyson!
If mine broke tomorrow I would buy another without hesitation. Having two dogs in and out of the doggie door a good vacuum is essential!
Thank you so much for all your recommendations! After going to Target, BB and Beyond, Home Depot and some others -- I finally settled on a Hoover Legacy Pet Vac from Home Depot and let me tell you I am beyond impressed after the first usage tonight (and a bit disgusted by what was in my area rugs and carpets!)...

Thanks again!
We have a Dyson animal and love it.
HI Shannon, I buy up old Kirby's at garage sales, have them serviced fro about $65 & make all kinds of things out of them. I think they're fabulous. Hve been doing this for 40 years. Remember when we used to say "don't trust anyone over 30?" Puppy love from Joy & furry folk
I lOVE my Dyson!!! We also have a black lab that sheds very badly! The Dyson is wonderful! I highly reccomend them! It is worth the money!
