Vaginitis

So my baby girl has Vaginitis and possibly a UTI. I went to the vet yesterday, and she gave me some antibiotics, but she wasn't sure what the cause might be. I was wondering if it might be food related. I'm feeding her Orijen LB Puppy. But is Vaginitis a sign that she might be allergic to it? How about shampoos? I ask because she also had an irritated anus, constantly loose stool, and dry skin.

Also, are there any symptom relief meds or remedies that I could use until the antibiotics start working? The poor thing is constantly biting and trying to scratch it....

That's true, and when this bag of Orijen is done, I may switch her. Again. Back either to ToTW or Chicken Soup. She doesn't really like Orijen. I practically have to cajole her into eating it. And she has lousy poos. It may be too rich for her. I don't know. All I know is that the best results from a food she was ever on was Science Diet digestion...perhaps I should find a food for sensitive stomachs. The whole food issue is utterly confusing and simply annoying at this point. (But it's 3:30 am right now and I'm tired and cranky.)

It's true that a particular food can disagree with a particular dog, no matter how good a food it is. I just meant that it isn't the Orijen causing either an allergy or the vaginitis/UTI. I agree, the food issue is probably the one that is the most confusing and frustrating for most of us. I think it's easier when they're adults, though, so hang in there.

Did she like the TOTW when she was on it? Peri goes nuts over hers...and I have researched it more and I think it is okay for large breeds too. Good luck Krista!

Hi Krista,

I have Cimmy on Innova LB Puppy and she LOVES it. For the pup who was used to free feeding to now gobble down her food when it is given, she must like it. Her stool is terrific though at first it was very loose. Teri and I forgot about putting some puppy food in my car when we left and so I had to switch her without any combining of the two. About a week and a half on the Innova and everything was normal. Good luck with Angel. I am sorry you both are going through this. Betsy
