Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My husband and I have been looking for a puppy. We would like to know of a reputable breeder. We have gotten very confused by what we've found on the internet, and we would like to have some recommendations based on personal experiences.

Hi Cheryl, Welcome to Doodle Kisses! You are in the right place!
Our guidelines prohibit anyone from recommending a breeder in the open forums.
However, the most important information you need is right here:What to Look for in a Breeder.
Please read this before you consider any breeder, no matter how well recommended they might be.
Browse through our discussions, especially in the Puppy Madness Group and the Grooming Group. Make sure you understand the kind of investment in time and money that you will be committing to when you bring a labradoodle puppy into your life.
After that, look at the Labradoodles for Sale Group and the Australian Labradoodles for Sale Group.
There is a lot of misinformation out there on the internet about labradoodles. Know that it is not true that all of them do not shed or are allergy friendly, and also know that they are not born sweet, friendly, good with kids, or easy to train. All of those things will depend on the parents and the way the puppy is raised before he comes to you, as well as the amount of time and work you put in after he gets to you.
They are wonderful dogs, but they are mixed breed dogs, so they are not a lot of traits they share in common, other than the need for exercise, training, and fairly high-maintenance grooming.
Good luck in your search and again, welcome to our world!
PS: It would be a good idea to read the Doodle Kisses Guidelines (Under the Help tab) because this discussion somehow ended up in the Technical questions section, lol. The Help tab will help you navigate the site better.
Hi Cheryl,
Welcome to Doodle Kisses. This is the perfect place to learn all about doodles! To help you find a reputable breeder, you may want to click the main "GROUPS" tab, then "Browse All Groups". I see that you live in VA. There may be a group from your area, and although breeders cannot be recommended in the main forum, you may certainly "message" any individual member to ask about his/her experience regarding a breeder.
Good luck in your search!
Almost forgot, there is also an Owner Recommended Breeders Group.
There are also geographical groups, as Deanna mentioned, and I am sure there is a Richmond area group.
Hi Cheryl, all I can say is you made a great choice in picking a doodle for your dog. I cannot recommend a breeder but I can say that I have both a goldendoodle and a labradoodle and they are the best dogs I have ever had. They are so loving, smart, playful, goofy and entertaining :) good luck on your search for a good breeder.
