Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

God's eye is on the sparrows and apparently on goldendoodles also :-)

Shortly after posting on DK, I checked email.  Among many emails there was something forwarded from one of our best friends with the subject line "Found Puppy".  Our friend did not know that Charlotte was missing.  The email was from someone in a subdivision who emailed the head of that homeowners association who sent it to our friend, a county commisioner.  Our friend sent forwarded it to us.  My heart nearly stopped as I waited for the attached picture to load and then, there she was!!!  The email said that this man's dog had scared off the "mother" dog and the puppy was on his porch.  The time of the email was 10:15, 1 hr and 15 minutes after we started searching for Charlotte.

I called the man & left a message, called my husband, called my sister, called my parents, then got a call waiting beep from the man with Charlotte.  Somehow Webster & Charlotte ended up in his backyard, more than a mile from our house.  Somehow through my tears of joy, I managed to drive safely and find the house where Charlotte was tied on the back porch.  She is SO happy to be home and we are SOOOOO happy to have her.  Now it's time for microchipping (planned to do that when she got her rabies shots but no time like the present!), name tags (how many can a 9 wk old puppy wear??), invisible fence, visible fence, etc, etc, etc.....

Thanks for all your prayers and wishes - this drama has a VERY happy ending!!!!

This made my eyes water up... I am so happy for you. Definitely a lesson learned that it's never too early to have tags on your puppy. (Though I know that doesn't prevent everything.. puppies slip out of collars and such. We have a physical fence and I walk out with the girls -- but you never know who will leave a back door open, or when my older dog might try to dig to see her friend next door.. .anything can happen, and it certainly seems with our beloved doodles -- it usually DOES happen. So glad this had a happy ending.

Thank you for sharing this. I've actually never gotten a dog microchipped before, but I am getting both of my girls done because you shared this. Better safe then sorry.. if it was this upsetting to think of a Doodle missing that wasn't mine.... I don't even want to think!
Microchipping really can help. I get emails daily about lost pets in my area since I have registered Peri and Taquito with Home Again chips. I always look at their photos and keep an eye out, especially if they are in my immediate area.

This is a great reminder to everyone to get the microchip!
Remember during Katrina when so many pets were lost? I remember stories about people being reunited with their pets all over the US because their dog/cat was microchipped.
So sorry she was lost but even happier she was found. Hold on tight to that little one!
I am so happy for you and Charlotte. Thank heavens you found her. I am so relieved as I am sure you are!
I knew she would show up. There is just sooooo much a puppy can get into. You will feel more relieved when she has been microchipped - I know I was. Like insurance, it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! Enjoy.
I seriously don't know why I read these things at work - first found your SAD posting the went looking for something happier - well here it is. I am so happy for you and I hope no one comes into my office to see how happy tears look.

Amen!
Hi Jen...
I just got home...and the very first thing I did was go straight to my computer to check and see if you found Charlotte yet??!
Tears of joy filled my eyes as I read your post...and I just marveled at how blessed your family is to have your precious girl home...safe and sound!
Charlotte certainly did have a lot of prayers and well wishes being said for her.
I can just imagine the "CELEBRATION" that will be going on in your family...along with Hugs and Kisses...and most likely...a few tears of JOY!!
I am so thankful...and so very happy for all of you...
Hugs from Sasha and me...
