Posting this because at this moment I'm stuck at home waiting on my husband and fighting an anxiety attack. jace went potty about 30 min. ago and it was pretty much pure blood, called my current vet, soon to be ex vet because of the way I was treated over the phone, and they told me it was from "straining" Jace has only went 3 times today and barely had to strain, I told them that and all they said was he needed the metro. I'm fed up with them. I called the animal hospital and they said that this is important, they would see him and to get him there asap. I'm ready to go out the door as soon as my husband gets here. I have a dog on my hands that is pooping blood and is barely moving. I am terrified, one of my worst fears has occured and I'm helpless at this moment. I am furious at my current vets office, they must be a special kind of ignorant.... Please keep us in your thoughts, prayers, etc. I'll update soon.

I hope everyone is feeling better! Very scary. Libby was diagnosed with GHE - Gastro Hemmoraghic Enteritis - when she was about a year old. Very frightening and very similar symptoms. I'm sure everyone's vets checked for that but just be aware that the symptoms are pooping and/or vomiting blood. It was easily treated and it never recurred, thankfully. So sorry everyone seems to be having health scares - fingers crossed that everyone is home tucked in their own beds by tonight!
That's good news! It was very frightening. Although for comic relief, about a week after the GHE episode, Libby's mom had Libby in the yard and was of coursel closely monitoring her BMs. She had been absolutely fine, but Mary Ellen saw something red come out and almost passed out from fright. She ran over and it turned out that it was a red hair scrunchy that Libby had decided to enjoy. Hmmm, forgot about that until right now so I guess that Libby has eaten one item that wasn't intended for her. Anyway, all's well that ends well and I'm sure that Jace will be fine!
Did you ever try pill pockets? That was the only thing that worked with Libby but she can't have them now, so basically if she needs a pill we have to shove it down her throat. She picks the pills out of her food.
I coat capsules with mashed sweet potatoes and then put them down his throat. The coating helps keep them from sticking at the back of his tongue, and the taste helps keep him from trying to spit it out.
If Jace is allowed... try pill pockets. That was the miracle solution to getting my Shelby to take pills.
Glad to hear Jace is doing well this morning - what a scary, scary situation. Please do keep us updated!
Please keep us posted and so glad everyone is better!
