So off we went in hopes of finding bitter apple spray to stop the gnawing puppies from completely devouring the puppy gate.  Couldn't find bitter apple, but hey...bitter cherry should do the trick right? Oh, well.... as it turns out,  THEY LOVE IT!!!  We're practically rewarding them for eating their way out of the dining room.

Note to self: "Almost the same" isn't!

Aw! I feel for ya! But that was very funny!
If it makes you feel any better, one of our dogs loved bitter apple!  In fact he loved all of the deterrent sprays!

LOL - this is hilarious!

Try apple cider vinegar!

We used black pepper and it worked really well.  We also have used Pet Corrector (a spray can of condensed air) for other bad girl moments.  That also works great.  But it must be used exactly when they are being caught in the act.

Good Luck :)

Herein lies the problem. They don't chew on anything while we're home. It's the 4 hours a day when nobody is home. <heavy sigh>. I thought about rubbing a real jalepeno on the gate but with my luck, they'll love that too.  They give the term "party animal" new meaning.

My mom made a red pepper solution and put it on her furniture legs when her dog was a puppy. It worked for her.  Sadly, I can repeat my about post:  "If it makes you feel any better, one of our dogs loved bitter apple!  In fact he loved all of the deterrents!"

My little beaverdoodle loves all those sprays.  I haven't found anything that works for her.  Now sje's tall enough to counter surf and I wonder what else she'll be into.  You have so much more to look forward to with pups - chewing and gnawing is just a fraction of what they will do. BUT, they are just so darn cute we all tolerate they mischief.

I know what you mean.  My girls also have just dicovered that they are tall enough to view the counter contents, not to mention the dining room table.  Just another day on the doodletrain..chew...cheeeeeew!
Very funny. They never cease to amaze me!
Oh Donna...That is SO funny....what if you added a dash of hot sauce....???
Oh no! Sorry, but I had to laugh a bit at this. When our doodle was a puppy, she kept chewing a spot on her leg. I took her into the vet's to get her checked out. She was okay & I asked what to put on her to prevent her from constantly doing this. They said to put a little bit of hot sauce to keep her from licking & chewing the area. It worked so well that I would dap a bit of hot sauce on the corner of throw rugs she use to love to chew. It put a stop to it right away.
Tried it....They liked it. I'm going to the market today and I'm going to get the hottest jalapeno I can find.
