What do you give your doodle for flea and tick prevention?

 Good Morning, I have an eight month female doodle named Matilda. We have been giving her Trifexis which we get from our vet. It is $15.00 a month.  I don't mind spending that if that is the best one out there. I see frontline and a few others at Costco which are much cheaper. I was just wondering what you all give your doodles for this!! Thanks so much!!

We have used all of the Vet recommended flea preventatives.  They seem to work for a while then quit.  We are using Comfortis now for the last 5 months with success.  Maybe we just need to switch every year to confuse and drive the fleas crazy so they will go bug someone else.

Annabelle is on Nexgard for flea and tick, it is chewable and is $21 a month, so cheap it is not. I get it from the vet, not sure it is available retail.

I order Nexgard from 1800 Pet Meds and the price is roughly the same as what you pay, Amy.

I have lived in a house that had a flea infestation, and I also know people whose dogs have died from tick-related illnesses. Frankly I would pay double for something that worked--in my opinion this is not something to cut corners/costs with. I am also more comfortable with a pill than a topical application but that's just me.

Beware of knock offs at Costco....there has been many discussions how the Costco Frontline, etc., is NOT the same product purchased from your Vet.
We use Revolution....we were on Trifexis for awhile, but had trouble with her barfing up the Trifexis pill, since she is such a light eater. Revolution is a topical and covers heartworm, fleas and ticks. We live in San Diego and it never gets cold enough to kill off those pesky fleas. So far, so good!

The manufacturer's warranty on the products is also invalid if you buy it anywhere but from a vet. 

I use Frontline Plus for fleas/ticks and Heartgard Plus for heartworm.

Our vet prescribed Frontline Plus for dogs, placed between the shoulder blades for flea and tick control.

We use NexGard for fleas and ticks (It's chewable.), and Sentinel for heartworm (It also prevents four other worms/parasites, plus fleas.). We get both from the veterinarian.

I was doing that but the new vet that took over my old vets practice after he retired wouldn't do it. She said Annabelle would be getting too much flea med. Annabelle loved Sentinel, she gobbled it right up. Didn't have to worry about her spitting it out.

We use revolution. It's easy to use and covers a lot of pests.

Having two and being retired, I have researched this quite a bit. I use two different types being as we are in a highly flea and tick infested area in the summer. I use Frontline Plus for our summer months. For the winter, when the flea and tick population is down and we are not in that area as much, I use fiproquard.  It comes out to about $100 savings a year and so far this combination is working well. It has just been tested with having 2 dogs who were untreated up at our cabin this summer and they were FULL of ticks and my two didn't have even one.  

I am not concerned with manufacturer warranty at the moment. Should I see a tick on one, I would consider purchasing from the Vet from that point forward, but this is working for now. I also have pet insurance, that would kick in should there be an illness. 

As for heartworm protection, I do purchase their Heartguard from the Vet. Not messing around with that disease and/or warranty. 

I loved Nexgard, but with having two, I can't afford the luxury of a pill compared to the cost of the topicals. When comparing that price, its about $500 a year for my two with Nexgard and roughly $225 a year with what I am doing now. A savings of $275.  That pays for one years insurance for one of them!
