Ok, so Ludo does this weird thing and I have no idea what he's doing/ trying to accomplish.

Whenever i am laying on my stomach on the ground, Ludo comes over and stands over my head so that his front and back paws essentially touch each of my shoulders and my head is sticking out the other side.  He doesn't do this if I'm on my back. I don't stick around to find out what happens after that and sit up, but I'm wondering what it means... my first thought is that he is exhibiting some sort of dominance, but when it comes to his place with humans, I haven't recognized other dominant type behaviors.  Just wondering if any of you had experienced this with your dogs.  And of course since when it happens, I'm under his belly, I don't have a photo to show :p

It could be playing or dominance.  I had a golden retriever that would do that. He was very energetic so I think he was just playing. If you don't see any other dominant behavior, it is probably just him wanting to play.

I am picturing this scene and laughing. I have no clue. It sounds harmless to me, but I am no expert.

Bella does that all the time when we are wrestling! Its like a fake dominance thing, when she is playing:) It is kind of funny because I have to squirm out from under her, but then she jumps on top of me! I think that is probably what he is doing :^)

My daughters female cat used to do that to her, but she also tapped her front paws on her shoulders while she was doing it. My daughter called it pedal pushing, although that was her made up name for it. I think her cat was just playing.

If Picco did it I would think he wants his belly rubbed!

Hmmmm, so many of these doodles have little quirks they do that make us wonder what it means, but we will never really know for sure....and if its not a problem for you then it's not a problem.  If only we could talk DOG.

If you don't see other dominant behaviors I wouldn't worry about it....just a "Doodle quirk".

I wonder if Ludo is trying to protect you, because he thinks that you are hurt. During training with Wally when he was a puppy, the trainer told us that if our dog was not coming back to us when called, to lay down on our belly. The idea is that the dog thinks that you are hurt and returns to make sure that you are alright. Since you said that you are laying in a prone position on the ground, I'm thinking that this might be what's going on in Ludo's head.
