That's the name that Beverley Manners made up for her ALDs after the whole fiasco with what was supposed to be a Texas Rutland Manor breeding program. One big mess.
Oh, and they are definitely NOT "an official breed", lol. They're ALDs from Rutland and Tegan Park.
I like the "officially recognized" part. What official(s) recognized them as "a breed in development"? Grandma Bev?
ROFL -- from the "authentic strains" ... all 3, 4, 5, 6 of them? As if you can go from a mixed breed dog into a totally different pure breed.
Probably "officially recognized" means an organization Beverly invented after she was kicked out of others. If memory serves, she changed the name ALD to Cobberdog when she disagreed with breeding guidelines of various ALD organizations and criticism of her behavior. She justified it with the inclusion of Wheaten Terriers into "her breeding program" (her most recent perfect dog) and bad breeders (defined as anyone not Beverly-sanctioned). Then she dissed ALDs --even though many of us have Rutland and Tegan in our doodles' background.
I asked Atty if he is a "cobberdog" or an "ALD"? He responded by asking which one gets the most treats because he is that one! I suspect Finney feels the same way!
Summed up perfectly, Cheryl. I think I'll redesignate Charlie as a Cobberdog rescue boy rather than an ALD rescue boy. :-} It will make him get a swelled head though, to be a pure breed dog! He might lord it over his brothers. And if he gets treats for it, it is a done deal!
LOL
Atticus woke up this morning and decided he is a "Cobberdog"! Just what I need......a 6 month old puppy with an identity crisis? Now that Atty is calling himself a "cobberdog" he feels more entitled than ever......steak for breakfast and kosher chicken breast for dinner with sweet potatoes on the side!
