What is the most disgusting thing your doodle has rolled on?

Noah found an owl pellet at the field today and had a great time rolling on it.  Since his coat is so thick and curly, every tiny piece of feather stuck to his coat.  He looked quite pleased with himself but I had the horrible task of picking all the feathers off of him. 

Why do dogs insist on rolling in the dirtiest things they find?  I've heard it's some sort of defense mechanism to cover up their own scent.  Any other ideas?

Left Lilo in yard one morning by herself while Rocky and I went to vet. She dug a hole under the fence to get into the compost pile, which was obviously skunk-infested. Really sweet... took an 8 hour visit to the groomers to get her to smell good again and get the green color off her back. My car still has a vague skunk-like smell even though this happened last summer. Have gone through lots of car air fresheners since then to avoid puking while driving. Love my dogs.

probably the smelliest although the rotten fish and poop rolls sound pretty awful too! Oh, did I mention that the drive to the groomer only takes 10 minutes? Skunk odor is pretty hard to get rid of. Someone suggested that I scrub my car in tomato juice, but I just didn't think it would work well with the carpet in there, so have opted for the most potent plug-in deodorizers I could find. At least my car doesn't smell of sour milk anymore from all the times I have spilled drivethrough lattes on the floor, ha.

Webber rolls in deer poop at every opportunity. It smells absolutely terrible. I guess he wants to smell like the deer he is chasing! It is a disgusting habit since the dog sleeps on my bed. Deer poop=bath

The worst most disgusting clean up job was a roll in vomit....we live near a College, and we were doing an early morning romp one Saturday near the Athletic fields. I don't think I will ever be over it~but Sadie was pretty pleased with the whole thing!!! EEEEeeeeeuuuuu

My lab, Moose, used to roll in septic pools from a neighbors non-working new evaporation system. :(

Poop of various unknown species. Thule was the best at finding these things. She was very fond of exotic perfume. I SWEAR one time it was human poop. Though I can't imagine how it would have found itself in a park...and I didn't SEE it except on her...
