what kind of couch do you have...

hello all!! i have a question.. i have a 10 1/2 month old goldendoodle.. 80 lbs. we currently have 2 couches that were given to my by a co worker. they dont really go with my apartment so well..but they were free and we had just gotten Midas (our doodle) and we knew it wasnt a good idea to buy brand new couches just then... i am now thinking of getting a couch.. Midas currently is allowed on the couch and does sometimes jump around on it.. i know i should stop that..but its hard because i do like to cuddle him on the couch as well.. basically my question is..what kind of couch do u have? leather, suede, micro fiber? how does it hold up with your dog on the couch if your doodle is allowed on the couch.. the one i am looking it is a micro fiber sectional...brown.. whats ur advice? get the new couch..or hold off til hes older and calmer? or go for it and work on not allowing chaos on the couch?? thanks please lmk ur advice asap as i have to go look at the couch tonight! xoxo

This was my same question recently.  I think leather is definitely a good choice.  I would steer clear of microfiber unless it is a very high quality.  I have known people that complained about pilling.  Being able to wash the cover is great.  Ikea has a nice option at a reasonable cost.  One thing to definitely consider with a dog Midas's size is the depth of the seat.  We went from a sectional where everyone could sit on the sofa to a sofa and large chair.  Big difference.  My two big boys are 75 and 90 lbs. so they take up the entire sofa.

I have a microfiber couch and have had no problems.  I did get a piece of fabric (paw prints of course) to cover the end Bodi sleeps on the most.  My only other advice is to get a couch that is the same color as your doodle!

Leather.  Have had leather furniture for years.  The boys are allowed on the couch but we get frustrated with them when they jump on the backs of the couches and bark at something outside.  We also have all leather in the vehicles.  Easy to clean and very dog friendly.
