So we've all done it ... toiled over what name we will give our new puppy/dog. Names come from everywhere. I know a Peat, a Guiness, a Breslin, a Stout ... all unique names given for a reason. I've even seen Leroy "Gibbs" on Doodle Kisses! So here's the discussion ... let us know what your doodle's name is and why you chose it.

You were very thoughtful to keep Meg's name.  Adore PWD - it does make me smile.

Quincy's litter was named for famous scientists- he was Jonas Salk.  I liked the name, but felt it was not lyrical enough.  My son and I  searched name books and thought Quincy suited him.  My DH liked it for the historical link to John Quincy Adams.

Quincy is a great name!

Miss Beasley was named after a sitcom back in 1966 -71  Family Affair.  Miss Beasley was the little girl (Buffy's) doll. When I was a small child about the age of 7, I was put in the hospital after being sick pretty much most of my life and they removed my tonsils, I can remember wanting a Miss Beasley doll so bad. She was pretty expensive at that time and little did I know my mother had wanted me to have the doll but couldn't afford  buy her ...I was in surgery way longer than the doctors said I would be and it scared my mother, needless to say she sent someone to buy that doll and Miss Beasley was sitting on the table when I woke up. So she has a special meaning to me..I went to work and showed some of the girls that I work with pictures of Miss Bea, they ask me where I got her name .. I laughed and said "If you don't know who Miss Beasley is, your to young to be my friend !" lol shows my age :)  Miss Beasley has won me over heart and soul, if anyone would have ever said a year ago that I would love a pup like I do her I would have said no way ...doodles by far are the best !

Debbie ... great story and a great name for your doodle! I, too, remember Family Affair and Miss Beasley.

I am so old, I think I was an adult when that series was on, so I recognized the name reference immediately.  I love it.

I chose Cally for a couple reasons. My Callys name actually stands for Calla Lily. I already had a dog with a flower name, Rosey. Cally's moms name is Mary Gold which is another flower name. So when I was deciding names I knew it had to be a flower name but I really like dog names that end in Y. I really liked Lilly but it just seemed to giryl for my new pup especially since I did not name her for the first day she was home. I liked just Calla but I wanted something ending in Y, hence ending up with Cally. She gets called Calla Lily all the time around the house and will answer to that or Cally or Cally Belle. I think it is even better now too because I am getting her mom Mary Gold in two years!

Naming after flowers ... LOVE it! Cally is a beautiful name.

I was trying to learn Italian when I came up the name Picco D'oro, meaning Golden Peak.

LOVE it! Did you learn your Italian? And, moreover, does Picco D'oro know Italian?

I love the name Charlie and he is brown - so we named him Charlie Brown.  We were not thinking of the cartoon character until someone later on mentioned it.  When we got a second doodle, we thought we would name him Winston.  But when that doodle arrived he was not a Wilson, he was a Beau and we usually call him Beau Do (pronounced dough) because he is so goofy!  I am enjoying reading each response on this thread.

That's great Linda! So much fun.
