So doodle friends. It has been nearly two months since we rescued Johnny from DRC and none could be more happier than we are as he truly is the most remarkable dog I've ever known. One small dilemma...no one seems to know exactly what he is??? My vet reckons he is a Portuguese Water Dog and so do a few people I meet at the dog park. I have been online and checked them out and yes, he does look similar, but his tail is docked and therefore, kind of resembles a poodle. His coat is not poodle though. It is very dense and thick and grows slowly. I am attaching two pics and hopefully, my keen-eyed dog loving friends can shed some light to this mystery. Whatever he is however, we could not love him any less as he truly is a gift from God.
You are right...he is adorable and such a sweet boy. I guess because he had a rough start in life, made him even more grateful for his now forever home. Unlike my girl..who truly is just a spoilt little brat...but not so much now that she is not an only "furkid" ha ha.
Frances...Johnny Boy is adorable!!!! I want to get my hands on him! Wow...when I look at the body I think Poodle but the face isn't saying 100% Poodle. I also think the curls might be too tight to be a PWD, though they are curly/wavy and have the softest hair ever. The shorter snout leads me to PWD. It is just the curls are too tight so I would then go to an F1B Labradoodle. Doesn't have a Goldendoodle look at all so I say F1B Labradoodle. Are you going to the romp next weekend? I now have had a change of plans and Gracie Doodle and I are coming!!!! Please please come!
I am planning on coming Nancie, then you can be the judge of our latest addition. I cannot tell you how lovely this boy is as he is not spoilt like our Frankie Girl. He is so very grateful for anything that comes his way, whether it be walkies, treats of just loveys.....I did not realize how much we had spoilt the Frankie Girl until Johnny Boy came into our lives...:)
Here's a pic of Porter looking like a greyer, bigger eared version of your guy. Porter's an ALD.
What is amazing to me is how solid black Johnny is--and I love it! I think that is less common among labradoodles. I believe poodles or pwd are more likely to be solid black--though I am no expert.
Oh he's lovely and I love the snow all over his mouth. His coat is as thick as Johnny's but you are right...Johnny is just blacker than black..but he is still very young and that will probably change.
