What's In a Name? If You Changed Your Dog's Name, What Would It Be??

I know no one is going to change their dog's name, because a lot of thought went into the name you picked for your dog. I have noticed that a couple of dogs on DK now have aliases, so it got me thinking and I decided to post this question. If you were forced to change your dog's name, what would you chose this time around?

 

I was in the huge minority when I picked Fudge's name, but I still love it. My sister went on and on for days that it sounded too much like another word and would not let it drop. Luckily, I never listen to her and it annoyed me enough that I was sure my puppy would be named Fudge. I might even have told her to "fudge off".  If I was forced to change her name, this time around I would go with Penny (because of her color) or Cookie (because I love the food names).

Vern's name was chosen by my husband and it fits him so perfectly. Know what I mean, Vern? It is actually Vernors after the Midwest Ginger Ale. However, it I had to change it, maybe Harland (after Colonel Sanders, because it reminds me of chicken and Vern is a big chicken) or Mac (which could be short for Macaroni or Mack Truck). I also love Noodle, but that was vetoed by my DH.

[Bonnie and Kona]

Kona doesn't look anything like your dog but I think he would be a good Oliver! He is almost four and our puppy's name is Owen and suits him. We would then have an Oliver and Owen. O well. (no pun intended, haha)

[Frances Pendrous (Horan)]

My take on this is whatever name we originally name our dogs, the names always seems to get shortened down somehow for ease of calling. My rescue "Johnny" was originally called Figaro, which I did love as he looks like something out of a Spanish Opera...Anyway, I knew me and knew I would end up calling him Figgy so I decided to change it to Johnny as that was always the plan to have a male and female named Frankie and Johnny. Also, family members and friends seem to find their own nick name for them too which I always find endearing...By the way, I agree with Kim, Fudge really does look like a Penny...I love that name too.

For some reason, all our dogs have food names, so Penny didn't work. I could have done York Peppermint Patty...but that is a mouthful :) We call Fudge, Fudgers, Fudgie...and some other things, I can't repeat here on DK :) Vern..sometimes Vernie, Vernmeister, Verness. Our names are getting longer. Frankie and Johnny are great names.

[Jennifer,Chloe & Myla]

Well...I like Vern and Fudge better than the others.

Chloe would always be Chloe, however we almost named her Zoe but found there were a lot of those around.

 

Myla on the other hand, the name was picked before we got her. I told DH I'm naming her Myla because it stands for

"My little angel" take my advice people, meet your puppy before tagging that to her! She'd be renamed DQ for Drama Queen.

She makes all these dramatic people sounding sighs and groans when she's tired or hungry. She took over the house. She was Tazmanian Devil when we first got her or when she gets groomed. She has high maint. hair and likes to use a blanket over her on the couch. She also doesn't like to be home alone. MELTDOWN!!!!!!!

LOL. My DH loved the name Chloe for Fudge, but we vetoed him. I love the name Chloe, but we always go with food names :)

[Jodi and Stella]

The names that would most suit Stella's personality at this point would be "Princess" or "Miss Priss". She is such a girlie girl. (that is when she is not busy attacking whatever unsuspecting victim that crosses her path, then she is "Spawn of Satan or "Crazy Girl")

[Laurie, Fudge, and Vern]

Stella sounds like Fudge! We call her Miss. Priss too and when she gets her hair cut, FiFi!

[Allyson, Peri & Taquito]

I think I would just call Peri "Doodle".  She looks so doodly, we call her that all the time!

 

[Phoebe's Mom]

My DH calls Phoebe "Doodle" all the time, too!  My oldest calls her "Dawg" sometimes but she is such a Phoebe to me!

See...Vern could have been Noodle Doodle. I like Lady Peri.

I love Vern and Fudge's names!
