Hi all...Bentley is 1 year and 3 months old and still gaining weight and growing.
He originally was supposed to be a mini but he is now 54lbs so a mini he ain't..lol

I was curious as into know when do dogs usually stop growing and maintaining a steady weight? He is not over fead or over weight (he eats grain free earth born holistic salmon and sometimes gets sliced up apples and bananas).

Thanks in advance

Willow is a standard F1 GD with mom 55lb. and dad 45 lb. She was about 65lb at 14 months or so, and she's between 60-65lb. since then. She's pretty lean with all the ribs easily felt under her skin. We were advised to stay on puppy food until 18 months, which we did (Orijen large breed puppy).

How old was he when he was neutered? That can affect growth.

Typically, the standards stop growing in height or length between 10-14 months, but continue to gain eight in the form of lean mass (muscle and bone). Minis usually reach full bone growth around 7-8 months old.

He is definitely not a mini, lol.

he was neutered at 4 1/2 months

from all the comments Im getting I guess he will keep on growing till he is about 18 months old? :)

There is evidence that male dogs who are neutered young, long before the growth plates have closed, may continue to grow past the age when they would ordinarily have stopped. That may be the case with Bentley, although it doesn't happen in every case.

I don't think anyone can know for sure if he will continue to grow until he is 18 months old. I don't think he will keep getting taller that long. He may continue to gain weight, though.

My previous dog attained his full height at 12 months and his full adult weight at 18 months. I think that's pretty average.

Myla is an F1 goldendoodle and I just looked at her chart - at 16 weeks she weighed 30 pounds, at one year she weighed 60.8 pounds and we just weighed her last week and she weighed 63 pounds.  She will be two years old March 13th.  The formula of doubling their weight at 16 weeks plus adding/subtracting 5 pounds is right on for Myla.  She was spayed at the age of seven weeks.

Mini's are done growing at 7 or 8 months, but since your mini, well isn't a mini, I'm not sure.  Standards are done growing around 18 months.

If I doubled bentleys weight at 16 weeks then around 50lbs would make sense. He was 25 at 16 weeks.

Thanks everyone for your input. It is really appreciated.
The 16 week formula has really worked for the majority of doodles here, so it sounds like you might be pretty close to full growth. Mine were both around 14-16 months old when they reached their 58-60 pds and now at 3 and 5 yrs old, I keep them within 3 pds of that weight. Yes, I agree, a mini he aint. But he sure is cute as can be.

Max is 6 months old and weighs 68lbs he is not fat at all, can anyone take a guess at what I should expect his full growth to be. I thought doodles were normally around 70lbs?

Max is definitely going to be a big boy!  What was his weight at 16 weeks?  As mentioned above the 16 week formula is pretty accurate - you double the weight at 16 weeks and add or minus 10 pounds.  There are a lot of doodles that are well above 70 pounds here on DK - I don't know where you got that statistic.

Hi Wendy, I think I read that somewhere lol...I'm trying to think back to 16 weeks and I think maybe he weighed around 45lbs, but I'm not absolutely positive. I don't really care if he's big or small either way, I'm just being curious.
