Which Microchip Registry?

The girls are up for their annual microchip registry renewal. HomeAgain is charging $17.99 per doodle. Anyone know of a good registry that either is free or costs less?

There are mixed reviews about ResQ chips and the company's record keeping of the pets info.

I have no idea if I am right. I was just dumbfounded by their story. And they were very insistent. Quote: " Micro chipping is worthless"

Still, I would do it again in a minute. Anything I can do to get my dog back.  And, I have replacement tags on all collars he wears, stating his number.

Update

I just called Avid. It occurred to me a dog could get lost anytime so why not call now. They have both my dogs and all the correct info. They told me that if animal control, the police etc. called they would give them the information. If a neighbor or some random person found the dog they would call me and give me the finder's information. So I feel much better! They were very nice, answered promptly and are open 24 hours a day.  Now I have to remember to have the vet check the chips on our next visit although the dogs do wear a tag with the Avid information.

Thanks, F. Since JD has an Avid chip, I feel much better. I do have it scanned at the vet on a regular basis.

I went to this site - I tried to search for their chip #s - not there but they did give a list of name and numbers of all microchip companies.  I added both girls to this site - free, anyone with a computer can search for a chip number and get a name and phone # to contact the family.
