White vomit in the Am

Ok so Macie has been doing a lot better with her new antibiotic, which is treating her bladder infection.  After 7 days of the antibiotic she only peed once in her sleep when she first got started on the antibiotic.  However, the last 2 mornings she vomited, right before eating. The vomit was a white foamy looking vomit.  Any advice one what this may be from?  

 

She is full energy and still playing, eating, drinking and pooping normally.  However, I should note we are slowly transitioning her food from Nature's Recipe to Blue.  Could it be the antibiotic or the food?  I will be contacting the vet Monday morning but figured I would reach out in the meantime! 

Any advice is appreciated!

Try giving her a small snack in the evening close to bedtime. Some dogs vomit bile in the morning due to having an empty stomach, although it's usually yellow, not white. Also, make sure you are giving the antibiotics with meals.

I doubt the vomiting is from the food change.

She eats 3-4x a day.  She is a picky eater so sometimes she will not touch her dinner until 8pm.  We have tried everything from changing her food, using the gravy and chopping up Natural Balance Lamb and Rice sticks to sprinkle on top of it.  I will try giving her a couple milk bones at night to see if that helps.

sounds like this might be bilious vomiting syndrome - you can google it and find more info. here's a website that summarizes the symptoms and causes:

- perhaps this will just go away once your dog gets off the antibiotics. You could try and feed more often than once/day and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks Eva,  We feed Macie 3-4x a day.  She is such a picky eater that sometimes it takes her a bit to get around to eating her meals.  I mentioned in my reply to Karen that we have tried things such as changing her food, putting gravy on her food and chopping up Natural balance sticks to sprinkle on top.  I am going to try to have her eat a few milk bones at night to see if that helps (I know she will eat those).

Phoebe does this, too, at least once a month.  Our vet suggested, as others have already replied, to give her a snack either later at night or first thing in the morning.  We feed Phoebe very early during the week but an hour later on the weekend.  I make sure to give her a treat on those mornings which helps her 'last' until breakfast.  She loves Wet Noses brand pumpkin treats plus the pumpkin helps calm her tummy.

Darwin does the same thing on occasion. We just give him a late night snack, or early in the morning.

Ours does this in the am if she is running around BEFORE she eats?? Not sure, but I hope it's not serious

Hey! Thanks for your reply, it has been a crazy few weeks and I haven't had a chance to sign on.  Macie had a sample of urine taken directly from her bladder last week, the lab results showed no growth.  So they ruled out an infection.  The vet feels that her bladder muscles are not fully developed and has put her on a med to help strengthen her muscles (used mostly in older dogs for incontinence).  The vet also recommended that we wait until after her first heat to have her neuter to give her bladder time to get stronger.  At the time of her neutering they are going to explore and take a look at her bladder. 

 

We have no experience in waiting until after the first heat and are worried because we have a male dog (Brady).
