Why Fudge and Vern Will Not Be Going on the Doodle Cruise!

There is a lot of talk about the upcoming Doodle Cruise in October, 2012, that Jane (Rooney &Stuart) is organizing.

People are also asking if their doodles are invited and unfortunately, the cruise is only for humans. Even if doodles were invited, Fudge and Vern would not be going and here are some reasons why:

 

First of all, what do dogs even bring on a cruise. Vern eats a lot and I would have to bring a huge amount of food. What if we are out to sea and we run out of dog food? I over pack with just my stuff. How would I fit all that food into my suitcase?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fudge is not a great swimmer and needs a life jacket most of the time. What if they don't have her size on the boat for the ship's pool? If my suitcase is full of my stuff and Vern's food, how am I going to get a life jacket in there too?

Another big worry....what would happen if they went overboard because they saw a fish in the water and decided to try and catch it.

We have a real problem keeping their water dishes full at night. I am afraid they might resort to this on the cruise:

Also, Fudge and Vern like to party. My husband and I go to bed early and they could sneak out and get in a lot of trouble. We have all heard of shipboard romances and Fudge does like the bad boys. What if this is what she is doing, while we are sleeping:

Don't get me started on Vern. He can be a follower and if he gets mixed up with the wrong crowd  our trip could be ruined:

Finally, we have all heard about pirates on the open seas and I bet Labradoodles could be a hot commodity on the Black Market. I cannot have anything happen to my Doodles by a group of these guys:

So, all things considered, my two doods are staying home where they are safe and sound.

Fudge and Vern would be sure to liven up any cruise, are you sure they can't go? Can you just imagine a pack of doodles running around a cruise ship? DH has for years been saying he wanted to go on a cruise, so I casually mention this cruise to him and he says, "no way, I'm not leaving the doodle". I still have some time to work on him though and who knows. We have a condo available to us in Florida and I think a week in Florida before or after the cruise would be marvelous. I know my sister will take care of Quincy and she is the only one I would really feel comfortable leaving him with. It would mean a 4 hour drive to bring him to her, but heck I'll be retired I'll have lots of time. I could spend a couple of days there while the doodle got comfortable and then I wouldn't feel so bad about leaving him. Can you tell I have given this some though?

Donna, Please come!! I would love to meet you :) This is the hardest thing about having dogs...what to do with them when we leave. It sounds like Quincy would be in good hands.

Did I forget to mention I get seasick. We once took a 2 hour boat trip from Newfoundland to St. Pierre (off the coast of Newfoundland but belongs to France) I was sick before we left the dock. I spent the 2 hrs on deck freezing with the ocean washing over my feet. I'm fine when I'm out in the open but when I go inside all bets are off.

My DH gets very seasick, but he has agreed to give it a try. I am going to follow the advice given here and get the patches and some Dramimine.

Donna, if you went to Florida via SW ONT I would love to look after Quincy for you!  Him and Gavin would have a ball! I would text you pictures every day!
