Before I got yogi, I never thought I'd let him sleep in my bed. No other dog of mine has in the past.....
But he is such a snuggler, I've let him up the past two nights while DH was away.
Am I starting a bad habit? He's crate trained at night, so I am trying to decide if I want this to become a habit in the bed or not.

Are any of you sorry you started the habit of allowing your dogs up?

They can be a pain in bed at times but I do not regret it one bit. They both are pretty good at responding to "Move". Calla comes and goes but I always wake up with Luca next to me.

The best feeling ever F!

I do love it.

JD likes to lie on my bed, but won't stay there with me at night, and I wish he would! I never regretted letting any of my past dogs sleep on my bed at all.

Leslie, all I can say is, it may be a bad habit, but it is the best one we have ever done.  Like you when we got Libby I said, NEVER will a dog sleep in our bed.  Well that was before we had a Doodle:)  She slept in her crate for over a year, but one time she was not feeling good or had a bad day and I felt sorry for her and put her in our bed.  OMD it was the best thing we ever did and we do NOT regret it for one moment.  Sometimes it is a little crowded, but to feel her next to my legs is just heaven.  She loves it and so do we:)  In the morning when we all wake up she comes up to us and gives us kisses and then snuggles some more, need I say more:)

My Midas got sick one night and threw up in his crate.. i cleaned it all up and got back in bed..and then said to myself.. imagine being in a cold dark hard crate when you dont feel good..so i brought him in bed..and hes been allowed ever since...he actually choses the crate because he LIKES the cold plastic of the crate as he is always hot.. when i put a bed in the crate he kicks it out.. lol i leave  the crate door open and he can come out if he wants.. i hav a king size bed but he will only sleep with me and hubby if its only him and one of us in the bed.. like if my hubby goes to work before me Midas jumps in when he gets out..and vice versa..lol

Just lately, Spud has stayed longer in bed.  I'm so happy!   Usually, he likes to go into my husband's closet and sleep on his bed.

Eventually he will understand 'off the bed 'and 'up on the bed'.   They get it.

As long as everyone gets their rest, why worry.

Sleep with your dog if you like it.    Life is too short

Soooo true Joanne!

Awww--this is so true. Sadie likes to get on the bed  now that it's cooler at night, but she isn't a big bed cuddler and would rather stretch out and have it all to herself.

I don't think so. Growing up my golden retriever slept with me every night. Crush doesn't stay in bed with me but she cuddles before and after bed. She could stay in bed all night if she wanted to, I like to lay next to her. The only problem is we have a queen size bed so it's pretty squished between her, me, and my boyfriend. It is worth it though :) My boyfriend said in the beginning that our dog would never sleep with us but he willingly gave that up. She's just so soft and snuggly.

I don't regret it one bit.  Quincy is up and down though, his preferred spot when he is warm is in the shower on the cold tile.  But he usually sleeps at least part of the night at our feet and often moves in between us with his head on my legs.

I do wish I had been stricter with furniture.  Our den is never without all the pillows messed up and or on the floor and it takes its toll with dirtiness as well.  He's not allowed up on the LR furniture, but we are never in there anyway!

I wake every morning to one fully stretched out, paws in the air beside me and another at the end of the bed. They do move about during the night but this is where they start and end. Boris will be crated after his surgery and both boys are used to their crates too so as long as you retain the crate option for times when you may need I would say it's no problem at all.
