Don't worry, I am not going to mention any names. Lol. I felt this was a nice side note to the discussion about why we don't mention breeders names. But stories like this are nice to hear IMHO.

We are getting ready to revise our Wills this month. And I felt it important to discuss plans for Murphy and Bella with our children, in the event something should happen to both of us at the same time. We are Harley riders so who knows?
Anyway, they both have 2 dogs of their own and we let them know that we wouldn't expect them to take two more on or even one in each home if they didn't feel up to it and to not feel obligated. So we talked about what they should do. We named a friend or two who would take one or both, we discussed asking here on DK, as you all know my guys so well, and we contacted our breeder to ask her if need be, would she want them to be sent back to her to decide on a home for them.

Our breeder, as many of you know, is the cats meow in my opinion, but I was truely amazed at her answer. She stated that she would certainly fly down from Michigan to Az. To get them herself if need be.
What a sense of relief it is to know that our children would have such a great option available to them especially at a time when they would be overwhelmed with everything else we'd be leaving for them to deal with.
It feels good and I wanted to share. So, do you think you could count on YOUR breeder to do this?

Of course he does. I just hope none of the money is in escrow for his legal clients.

Of course our lawyer JD would have made good investments for his future. Very astute of him!

Yes, he's done quite well for himself, lol.

i'm impressed Karen.  you have taught him to walk on a leash and how to be a responsible investor!!  What a well trained doodle!!

I don't think ours would. Although she clearly stated if we ever needed to rehome them we should go to her first. I don't know what we'd do with our doodle boys, my in-laws are not dog people and my family are all over in England.
It would seem if there were no other options for people, that having the family get on touch with DK and let us all know first and see what members would want one of our DK doodles, or getting help getting in touch with the DRC. How wonderful to imagine the front page busy with requests for my doodles and everyone of my DK family making sure it is a perfect arrangement for them. And of course the doodle train would pick them up.

Sue, We had a discussion some time ago about this same thing. I think I am on the short list for Jane's Rooney and Stuart although I think Newfoundland could come as a big shock to a couple of Florida doodles. I might just have to move to Florida.

I think Jane is considering moving to Michigan so they will gradually get "cooled off". ;o)

I think this breeder is unusual--she is no doubt fond of both you and the dogs!

Camus did not come from a breeder, but I think your breeder is awesome!  I have thought about what would happen to Camus if anything happened to me, but I do not have any specific plans as yet.  If something occurred while I was still in California I have friends who I am sure would take him, in fact I plan on talking to them this week. If they cannot then I think I would call Karen :)

Like he was my own, kiddo. Count on that.

You are a GEM!
