KoKo has been with us three weeks now and she is eleven weeks old.  She's a yapper.

We got Rosie when she was three months old and was the quietest puppy.  We got Maggie when she was six months old and also was quiet.  These two came from the same breeder and they have the same dad.

Koko came from a a different breeder and as you can see we got her at a much younger age so I'm not sure if the other two girls were yappy and we just missed this stage.  Will KoKo continue this forever?

I must admit that KoKo is so totally different than the other two dogs.  Perhaps because she is so young or has a different lineage.  She is fiesty, fears nothing, is a troublemaker, eats and chews on everything (even with bitter spray) and is cute, lovable and smart.  She knows sit, shake and down.  Now if she would understand "go business".

Right now the yapping is getting on my nerves.  How long will it last?

Is there something in particular that triggers this or is she just "yapping" randomly?
Sounds like a bundle of fun to me...although the barking must be annoying. I think it is so nice that she is different than your other dogs...and I'll bet her spunkiness has captured your heart. Our doodle did not bark at all for quite a while..in fact we wondered if he ever would. When he did bark finally it was because something startled him. What does Ko Ko bark at? Is she barking at your other dogs or a noise she hears? Or is it just when you leave her? Or...is it just that she wants attention?
I would try the "quiet" treat, "quiet" treat, "quiet treat, method. Daisy was not barkey until she was about 8 months old and then she found her voice....we are also trying this method it doesn't work as well with older teenage dogs (Daisy) but it worked with my daughters two. I am hoping consistency and a pocket full of treats will do the trick but first I have to get my husband on board. Sometimes I swear he is deaf.
I think she just wants attention and since I'm keeping her somewhat confined because of potty training, I think she wants to be out and about like my other dog. She gets plenty of attention and free time but I think she just wants to make her presence known. She is so cute and smart you would think potty training would be a cinch. Hopefully she will catch on and her confinement will be over and so will the yapping. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Your instincts are probably right. Once she can be with the rest of the crew, she'll probably be fine.I completely understand though. My mini goldendoodle, Clover, was very yappy for attention at that age. She is seven months now. It was very embarassing at Puppy Kindergarten. My dog was the only one who would bark. The part that drove me the craziest was at home. She would sit on the couch and stare at me. Once she felt she had waited long enough ,she would yap at me.I tried everything. The only thing that worked for me at home was to put her on a leash and attach the other end of my leash under the couch leg so she couldn't follow me. When she yapped at me, I got up and went in another room and counted to 15. I would increase the amount of time every time she yapped. It was frustrating to get up every few minutes, but by doing it consistently she finally stopped.
Owen is 13 weeks and is really yappy when he is excited... like when I'm preparing his food, he wants to play with our other dog, etc. Yesterday he had to be in his kennel while we were in the family room with him because he was torturing our older dog and they were getting into it with company there. My daughter sat next to his kennel and every time he yapped she squirted him with water from a spray bottle. I did it this morning when he and I were up and guests were all sleeping. It has helped tremendously.
