Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I haven't been on this site for awhile so I thought I would give it a try. We have two doodles. We have Bailey who is 5 years old and is a goldendoodle and we have Logan who is 3 and he is a Labradoodle. Bailey has allergy issues with a lot of things but mainly it is with carbs. He became very yeasty many ear infections darkened groin and little sores on his back. The vets really couldn't help, their solutions were antibiotics and steroids. This we will never do since it starts you in the endless cycle of yeast growth which is what we found to be the real problem.

He is free of yeast today and has been for 2 years now. We have a holistic vet and we treat and care for our dogs holistically. We follow parts of the regiment that applies to our dogs.

Send me  line either here or to my email at gregmpyles@msn.com and I will be happy to help you.

Oh I eat carbs and so does Jack.... I for sure worded that wrong......... I was trying to say that yeast is everywhere and kept under control by our own bodies unless their is something. Wrong with your body....I don't see the reason in withholding carbs. From Jack or me!

Oh and thanks. About wishing me well...... A little secret for on here .... You will get called on the carpet if you can not back what you say with scientific data from a scholarly study.....it's because they don't want misinformation on here .......I understand it and agree with most of it....though not always the delivery in which things are said.

I am in the middle ...I don't think all things are known and discovered yet and researchers are still discovering the way our bodies Work, DNA and things. Like that but for the sake of things unless I can back it with real scientific research....you tube doesn't count I don't post it...

Sometimes you just have to do what works for you! That's what I do

Exactly. Well said. Our dog Bailey has allergies and his body doesn't do well with an over abundance of yeast. So we reduce his carb intake. If your dog is doing fine on store bought food, that's great. I

wish we didn't have to make his food it cost a fortune, but it is still cheaper than paying for all those vet visits.

Here is a video you may find informative

This woman is a quack, did you see her video on coconut oil?
Wait even holistic vets don't see value in coconut oil ?

There is no documented value in coconut oil taken internally by dogs. Even a leading holistic canine nutritionist (Lew Olsen, author of Raw and Natural Nutrition for Dogs) has stated this. The fatty acids in coconut oil can't be converted or used by dogs.

Thank you Karen. I knew you would jump on :) my thought if you want info on how good it is for you and your pet go to Facebook lol :)
Not particularly good for people either : )

I agree, I haven't been able to find any documentation of the benefits to humans, either.

LOL!  I use coconut oil TOPICALLY on my own very coarse and wavy hair and it works wonders.  Smells nice too.  Also nice on the skin. That is the only documented benefit I know of.  :)

Another benefit is that it is solid at room temperature, so you can take it carry-on.

Topically is another story qz

Marie, it's an excellent moisturizer when used topically.

Her information on allergies and IBD are also full of inaccurate information. She is in my area, and neither JD's dermatologist nor his internist, nor the veterinary nutritionist they work with are fans. Although I do know one person whose IBD dog is a patient of hers, and guess what? She treated her with drugs. LOL
