Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Archie is a 14 week Goldendoodle. The last couple of days we have noticed that he occasionally lets out a Yelp as if he is in pain when he changes positions in his sleep. I have checked him over...massaging joints checking mouth, teeth, ears, paws, etc....cannot find any apparent reason for his discomfort. His appetite is good, no change in activity and behaviours have not changed. Vet appointment on June 3. Anyone ever experienced this?

I think the vet visit is a good idea. It may be nothing, but it's always best to see the vet if you think a dog is experiencing pain.

All of my dogs have occasionally whimpered in their sleep, but they've been dreaming, and it never coincided with changing position.

Mine have always made lots of strange sounds during sleep and they are usually moving in some fashion while doing so. Mostly they do a jerking motion, other times they look like they are running on their sides, other times they wake themselves out of a sound sleep with all the rocking and rolling.  But I would certaintly see what the vet says to rule out any fractures or serious injury. Strange that it would only bother him in his sleep though. Let us know.
