When Brenna wants to play with Kali dog (older) she just keeps yipping and yipping. Poor Kali just wants to get away from it, so do I.

When she wants something, she yips and yips. It is high and sharp. She does have a good low woof, woof.

She is driving us crazy. I've tried saying no and she just yips back at me.

Riley is the same way... Ive used a pop can with change in it whenever she starts to bark, shake it, and then say NO BARK. This has seemed to help tremendously for us!! Also, sometimes just saying, SHHH!! Real quick will take her out of that barking mind set.

Goodluck!

I have a few barkers too--try Amanda's suggestions and teaching the word "quiet"--catch her when she is not brking and say "Good quiet". Some people swear by teaching their dog to bark so that they bark on command and do not bark otherwise--I am not sure that would work with my guys. I bought a bark collar for Lyric at one point and it worked well in the yard when she started barking at people going by--I did not have to use it very long--she seemed to get the idea that barking would cause some discomfort and it slowed down her barking. If she forgets, I can always put it on her again for a day or so. It feels like a joy buzzer on their neck if they bark repeatedly.
Our foster did this.  We made some progress when he barked at us by shaking a can of coins.  We make NO progress in the play barking and actually lost ground as he incited our other dogs to play bark also!
I use a plastic bottle with a few stones in it to distract Jindi from barking or annoying the cat.
