Yogi's underwear

Anyone got a size recommendation for Yogi's underwear? I want to try them when he is neutered on
Friday. He is a big mini doodle, weighing 27 1/2#'s. His waist is 19 inches.
Not interested in the cones if we don't need it. Also vet says he is going to bury the stitches?? to make it less likely Yogi will lick them ..

Should I get a boys pair? What size, thoughts?

Also ever heard of the burying of stitches?

LOL, only you know the size of Yogi's butt, so just go to the store and pick something that would fit. :-)We did it without the cone and underwear, I'm sure Yogi will be back to normal in a couple of days! He is sure cute!

I can't help you with a size of underwear...lol, but both Lucy and Oscar had the stitches that were buried. I don't think the vet used that term, but its where there are no visible stitches or ends poking out. It did make healing faster, at least for Lucy (Oscar had more trouble/pain with the whole recovery process, but no infection). Hope everything goes smoothly for Yogi on Friday!

I had those sort of stitches when I had foot surgery. It leaves a beautiful scar : )

This is hilarious!  I had a hard enough time trying to figure out my granddaughters underwear sizes when I found "Cinderella" underwear, let alone Yogi's!  I am no help here, as Myla was spayed when we got her!  I thought "onesies" were better than underwear though?  Not sure - I'm sure others will tell you what worked for them!  Good luck!  I know it is a stressful time!

I have the same question! Stew is just 5 months but I'm thinking he needs to be neutered this month as he's getting obnoxious, LOL. He's also teething badly, so it hasn't been a fun 2 weeks!

One thing I've seen done is to get a pack of boys underwear (I'm guessing large for Yogi) and you'd put his tail through the fly so they would lay flat, but tight over the stitches. This is what I think I'll do for Stew when it's time to neuter him.

I went to the store looking, it's hard to guess the size. And of course they come in a 6pack. After looking, I think maybe a small - medium boys looked about right. Yogis "waist" where they would go around him is about 19"

I'll let you know Jess what size I end up with. How much does Stewart weigh now?

LOL I have no idea on underwear size but I'd love to see a video of Yogi at the store trying on underwear :) Good luck Yogi - hope all goes well --I'm sure it will!

Try getting a little 'onesie', I used them years ago. I also bought them at children's resale shops, much cheaper, and used training pants with snaps sometimes.  

Although I hadn't thought of using for my little fella, who will be neutered in a couple of weeks,  just going the cone route was what I figured, but I think he may just chew on the undies.

Yogi is a pretty calm pup, I'm hoping he will leave the undies alone. He does wear a thunder shirt from time to time without messing with it. Problem with onesie is what about potty time, just take it on and off?

I think some dogs really don't do well with an e-collar. Lucy hated it and so we just didn't use one with her. She had the invisible/buried stitches which I think really helped in deterring her from wanting to mess with the area. Never had a problem with her surgery site. In Oscar's case we used the e collar for about 5 days whenever he was in his crate. He tolerated it very well (both the clear plastic type and the soft, canvas-covered foam type). It never even occurred to me to try underwear/onesies. Oscar has a penchant for chewing on stuff, so I'd have been afraid he'd chew up any garment left on him.

I did have a girl when we used a onesie, I flipped the back up at potty time and had cut a hole for tail.  Undies would need to come off. 

Cones are a pain, they have to be uncomfortable as all get out, not to mention somewhat scary for the dog.  I have not had much problem with males and their stitches, but females had a whole 'nother ballgame to deal with.  I like to keep a cone on hand for each dog, sometimes you just need to keep them distracted or somewhat disabled.  If we don't need it, then I ditch it, when they first come home they are so groggy and then pain meds keep them fuzzy headed - I've seen stitches pulled in a blink. so I  them to do the megaphone look, but I get soft cones that are not cold, hard, plastic.
