As I enjoy one of my favorite lunches - a yummy peanut butter and lettuce sandwich - I am questioning myself.  All due to starting Adina's healthy eating starting Aug. 1., I'm sure.  Is peanut butter and lettuce considered healthy?  O.K. maybe not the bread but it was whole wheat.  I'm the kinda person that could reasonably argue that Milk Duds are healthy - hey - there is LOTS of milk in chocolate and carmel.  I'm probably a lost cost on the weight loss thing with this kind of thinking.  DH thinks my sandwich is repulsive, I say there are weirder combos that peanut butter and lettuce.  So what is your weirdest sandwich?

The day after Thanksgiving Sandwich consists of:

Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce (the canned kind), mayo on Rye bread....ALWAYS!

Boy, I am really out of the loop (or generation) here.  I have never heard of a sandwich with potato chips in it!  All my sandwichs are/were the usual bacon/lettuce/tomato with mayo, or PBJ or meat/cheese/lettuce and tomato.  My life is so boring.  I can't imagine some of the combos I am learning about here.

I don't like nuts in my ice cream, (isn't the point of ice cream the creaminess? Why would you throw hard little bits of things in there to prevent your tongue from gliding around unimpeded?) and I wouldn't like hard crunchy things breaking apart in the middle of my sandwiches, either. Potato chips on the side, please.

We are not boring, Linda. We are purists.

Yeah....., just sayin
Nuts are good in EVERYTHING :)  But then my FAVORITE Ice Cream is Mocha ALMOND Fudge.
See, I love all of those things...mocha, almonds, fudge....just NOT together. Don't like nuts in cookies or brownies, either. I just like the nuts plain.
Peanut Butter and Miracle Whip (and I think it had jelly too, can't remember) ........ childhood memory!  Haven't had one in years!
Thinking about sweet pickles and dill relish made me think of another weird sandwich I often make. I mix a spoonful of dill relish in with white albacore tuna and just enough mayo to hold it all together, and make a sandwich on whole wheat bread.

Lexi and I love those sandwiches.  When it is hot out we eat lots of sandwiches and salads at our house.  My mom always used miracle whip and I never had real mayo until my twenties.  After that I never bought miracle whip again.

Thats a staple here..plus a little hard boiled egg.

Hardboiled egg and celery when I have them (and I'm not too lazy to cut them up).

What makes it weird is the dill relish...most people use sweet pickle relish.

When I feel like fussing, I mix cut-up white meat chicken (I buy the ready to eat grilled chicken pieces sold in bags in the meat section of the grovcery store...pricey, but I enjoy a nice lunch, it's my favorite meal) with chopped celery, scallions, and crumbled blue cheese, and a little bit of mayo to hold it together. Delicious as a sandwich or you can eat it in lettuce wraps. If you want it as just a salad, substitute a light vinagrette dressing for the mayo. If you want to get fancy, add pecan halves and/or dried cranberries.
