What causes the quality to deteriorate when I reduce my photos? My pix can't be more than 400 wide to fit on my blog and I've noticed that sometimes....not always, they get grainy.  I know that happens when they are enlarged beyond their pix capacity but that's clearly not the case here.  Compression? Some are crystal clear and others get choppy....hmmmmmm, I'm puzzled.

Here's a blog post where I'm experiencing this....You can totally see it in the hair.

Donna,

To make sure that you don't loose the quality of your pictures create a copy of your pic and make the image size at least 300dpi before you reduce it to the 400 pixels then save as a jpeg.

Thank you!!! I'll try that. It's so discouraging to see that pixilation in the hair all the time, especially since I just learned how to use the back af button properly, most of the pics look GREAT at full size.

Ok that totally worked. I exported them at max quality, smaller dpi and then resized them.  Now I just have to re-write my whole blog entry for today...<HEAVY sigh>, Oh well, it's a one-time change.

Thanks again.
