How would you feel if next year, we had 2 PG members join me as a panel of judges for photos?
Perhaps 2 individuals who didn't want to submit photos? Or 2 LD people on a GD calendar panel and 2 GD people on an LD calendar panel? I would be the tie breaker?
What do you think?

FB is networking, not bonding. FB is a passing issue one moment to the next. DK is like the bonds we have with our dogs. Long, endearing, and priceless. FB has no intimacy or ambiance, DK does.
FB serves a purpose. It is width, not depth like here.
This is where I have made real friendships with people I would never have come across in a million years. It was our dogs that brought us here but the loyalty and friendships have become much deeper. I have not in all my years on FB forged those types of connections. I too check in here regularly and am sad to see that there is a gradual disengagement happening on DK which is saddening me.
The reason why I am very active on FB is because everyone who I interact with uses it. My friends, family, relatives, DK members, all of them are there and in many cases it's the only way that I can keep in touch with people. I do cherish it because it allows me to have real, in depth relationships with people that live so far away such as SIL Kate. We can chat, we have a secret family group, we can share photos, etc.
DK is awesome and I personally have no intention of leaving - but the reason why I'm more active there is because it encompasses so much more of my life. DK is just one portion of that life.
I agree that it's generational but that doesn't make one valid and one invalid. I hate texting because it's difficult and I prefer to talk on the phone, but I know a lot of people who use texting to stay connected in a meaningful way. I am sure that people were very resistant to e-mail when it first rolled out but now many people use it to stay connected and it's much more functional IMO.
I have been able to stay up to date on what my family is doing in between when I can visit them, and that isn't shallow or meaningless. Just today I was watching a video of my niece (who lives 3 hours away) giggle for the first time. My whole family left comments about the video immediately after it was posted and we all got to talk about the milestone together at the same time. The fact is that technology makes it easy to have relationships with people that you don't live near, or even people who do live near.
I think that it's all what you make of it. Some people use FB to post viral internet jokes and cyber bully people, and yet a lot of people use it to stay connected and appreciate each other's achievements. It's definitely not all bad, not at all.
I agree, it's all about personal preference.
I feel exactly the same way Camilla. My whole family is on FB and lots of friends that go back to childhood. I love having the ability to stay connected with them and know what's going on in their lives. I love DK too....and some of my very best friends are here...so I will always stay connected.
I totally agree Jane! I love both sites for many different reasons!
For quick, minute by minute announcements...I'd rather take up space there than create a bunch of discussions within DK.
I don't see how 2 people from the photography group helping judge the calendar or lowering the submissions to 3 or 4 will change DK, ruin the calendar competition or make it fade in anyway.Especially if those 2 people rotate.
I also don't see how we can just expect that Adina can continue to do this amount of work. She didn't create DK or start the calendar competition with this level of participation, and the time requirements have gotten much more intensive I'm sure. She is a mother and has another life - I don't think it's fair for us to just expect her to drop all of that to keep everything the exact same solely for our comfort. I think that is kind of like throwing HER under the bus. Sorry, just my opinion.
