Digital photography is so much fun, isn't it? Can you imagine actually taking pictures on film, having the film developed and pictures printed only to find out you spent all the money for a couple of usable pictures? That would make me mad!

Thanks to modern technology we can do so much more. (If there are gurus out there like Camilla who can show us how.)  I've been using Photoshop Elements for a few years and lately Photoshop, but apart from simple fixes, I'm still learning. It's usually trial and error.

What fascinates me, that we can literally "cheat" using Photoshop and similar programs. And I'm not talking about fixing the colors, lighting, saturation and all these legal fixes. I'm talking about making stuff up. Have you done it? If so, show us the before and after pictures.

Here is my desperate attempt of trying to make Auggie bite down on some artificial flowers. He was not willing to do that, so I had to attach a bully stick to the flowers.

Of course, the flowers were not facing the camera either and the bouquet looked pretty pitiful. Not a glamorous birthday picture at all.

And here is Auggie's final birthday picture:

Shhh, it's a secret. I did not even tell my DH. He thinks I'm a talented dog trainer and a photographer.

Very cool.

Here was a kind of "cheat" I had to do in RAW the other week. I was shooting in a very light area, and suddenly they called me over to snap a quick picture of the baby sitting in a tree. The baby hadn't smiled during the whole session so I had to snap the shot really quickly, and I didn't adjust my shutter speed. The result was a very underexposed photo - one of those random photos that is almost un-usable. Never fear, RAW to the rescue!

The orginal, straight out of camera RAW

And my final edit:

Love it! I switched to RAW two weeks ago for the first time and I keep wondering why I never tried it before. Gotta love this technology.

Wow, and wow again!

Great save Camilla. But I love how the transilluminated ear looks in the underexposed version : ) Also, this would make me very nervous about the baby falling out of the tree.

Yeah, what you don't see is the 4 pairs of hands that were just out of the camera's reach. He he.
