Hi just wanted to get some advices from you guys. I brought Emma to the beach today ( jericho beach for anyone that lives in Vancouver, bc) and she didnt really swim but we just walked intot he water till it was up to her legs. there werent a lot of sand on her when i was rinsing her out at home. but i did find some red spots/;pimples around her nipples and hind legs. i wonder if i should have my vet to take a look at it. could it be an allergic reaction to the salt water?
did you rinse her off after she went into the water??? the pictures do not come through clearly and the bumps could be bug bites that are not related to swimming. My dogs swim almost every day this time of the year and I am careful to rinse them off as soon as they're done and give them a bath when we get home.
also: is your dog itchy? does she lick the bumps??? do the bumps look infected??? You could try and put some neosporin on them. The vet may prescribe TriTop which is a catch-all ointment that contains antibacteria, anti-fungal, and steroids.
yeah i did. i rinsed very thoroughly too. i also brought a big jar of water to the beach to rinse her a bit before she went home.
i called hte vet yesterday because i was worried. so he told me to put polysporin on the spots. she doesnt really lick on it as much. around her anal area is a bit red..she does lick that area a lot. so he told me to bathe her with shampoo..he says some algae may still be there that's why. but today i can tell it is still red around her anal area. so i put some polysporin around that area too.
if it doesnt get better..he told me to bring her in next week.
