Teaching A Puppy To Swim In The Winter

Hi everyone,

I am scheduled to bring home a puppy this fall and I'd really like to teach him how to swim as a puppy.  The closest indoor dog pool is about 45 minutes away and it will be too cold to teach him to swim outside.  I've read that the ages of 2-4 months are best to teach them to swim so  I am contemplating getting something like ( http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/american-farmlandreg%3B-round...) to keep in our heated garage so he can get used to swimming and paddling and then keep it in the backyard during the summers as he grows as a cool-off wading pool.  Can a puppy learn to swim in this size pool (8 ft. round and 2 feet deep) or would it just be waste of money?
