Hello everyone. I'm in the process of making a website or blog for solely my cakes. My objectives are to make a place where people can go to view my cakes, as well as possibly contact me about having a cake made for them. I don't want it to be a formal online ordering place or anything like that. Just a place to show what I've done, share news and have my contact information. I wanted it to be modern looking, super fun, super casual, etc.  I always design my own blog and pages, and I want to do this one as well. I don't want it to look like a blog template. This is a really rough Photoshop mockup, so forgive the roughness. I put in a fake blog post just for an idea of what I want the content to look like

 

What I want advice about? What do you think about the name, the design, etc. Colors? Suggestions? By the way, I am also wondering if I should purchase that stock photo for my blog design. Do you like it at all? Please feel free to be honest and frank.

Oh, and the reason behind "cakebott" is that my last name is Bottelberghe, and my username for most things is "cbott". I justs thought it was a fun twist on that. But I'm open to other ideas!

Hi Camilla, I'm so excited for you! I think the name is really cute. I'm not crazy about the stock photo logo image because it reminds me of the sprinkles that amateurs use to decorate cakes/cupcakes.

Are you going to make it a wordpress site? Do you already have a company that's going to host it?

DH will make it for me, he will chose a web server to host it. Probably the one he uses to host all of his websites.

The reason for choosing the jimmies as the sprinkle is that I think they are a universal baking symbol, everyone uses them. I want the website to be accessible, casual, etc. I don't want too feel to fancy. Can you tell I over-analyze? LOL

I like the sprinkles  and the colour though I'm not sure about the name even though you have a good reason for using it. Bot reminds me of bot flies or bottoms.  How about Camilla's Cakes (CC) ? I'll try to think up some more options but it's nearly bedtime here 23.20 in Ireland and I need some sleep.  Will sleep on it.

Don't like Camilla's Cakes, AT ALL. LOL, I want something that is creative/funky/original. Here is a list of names I've run through. They are all pretty crazy... :-) If anyone has ideas for (preferably one word) fun creative names I would love that.

I like the layout and all. To be in the minority though I don't like the color of Cakebott, could be my monitor though. Here it comes over as turquoise and I think something darker would look better. Is that you cake? It's beautiful.
