Da Vinci type fiction

I loved the Da Vinci Code and love that genre, where the author takes a little tiny unexplained or perhaps unnoticed event in history and creates a story around it.  Other than the rest of the Dan Brown books has anyone read any of the numerous books that have come out since of that genre that you really liked?

I've read his Angels and Demons but nothing else. I love historical fiction.

I have read all of the Dan Brown books and liked Digital Fortress  kind of modern day Da Vinci Code.  Is the Dan Brown "historical fiction" the genre you are talking about?
