I also have read and greatly enjoyed Carl Sagan's books. I especially love "A Demon Haunted World" and "Cosmos". Also, "The Dragons of Eden" Or "Shadows Of Forgotten Ancestors" Okay, I just love them all!

Kind of off topic... anyone else here LOVE the Cosmos television series?

I just read a sad but good novel called Sarah's Key by Tatianana de Rosnay. It's about the roundup of Jews from France after which they were transported to Auschwitz. Much of the story is told from by a current day journalist.

Just brought Rua home yesterday...reading 3 books...The Monks of New Skete "The Art of Raising a Puppy", Cesar Millans' "How to Raise the Perfect Dog" and a Clicker training book.

I just finished "Gone to the Dogs" by Mary Guterson, a funny story about a girl who steals her ex-fiance's, new grilfriend's, dog. She also wrote "We are All Fine Here", which made me laugh out loud. Both are easy reading, like Picoult. Also read "Oxygen" by Carol Cassella, which was good. Before "Gone" and "Oxygen"I read "Cutting for Stone" by Abraham Verghese, and I loved it. Probably because it had a lot of medicine and surgery woven into the story and I am interested in all things medical. The New York Times review wasn't wonderful, but I couldn't put it down. I'll start " The Help" tonight.

I loved The Help and now I just got mail telling me a book I reserved, by Lee Child, another in the Jack Reacher series is available.Ah, life is good!

I need to understand Jodi Picoult!!! My aunt likes her so much that she sent at least 8 books to my mother and I. I read one - well I skipped around in one and I never do that. It was depressing with angry people who have no happy solution to their problems, negativity, adultry, and suicide by side characters, the true crime commiter (my word) was the good guy ( I guess because his actions were altruistic) and went to jail. They have been sitting in my closet for at least a year now and I finally pulled them out and sent them all to the hair dresser's free book exchange. What did I miss????

I haven't read her books. But I do think at a certain age you should only read books that you enjoy for one reason or another. I will force myself for a chapter or two if friends really recommend something but that's it. No longer do I feel I have to finish a book. But The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is and example of a book I'm glad I persevered through the first chapter or two. I also prefer to have at least some of the characters be people I like.

Yep, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a slow starter, but once you get into it, it is anything but slow. I read each of the three books in less than a week and have passed them on. My neighbor read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest in three days. I hear there is another book coming out and I have seen one of the movies. I keep watching for the other one, but probably will end up getting it from Netflix.
Just finished another book by Koontz. I really enjoy his Odd series of books. Reminds me of the T.V. series The Ghost Whisperer. I like the idea of "I see dead people".

Lucky Hair Dresser. I enjoyed all of Jodi Picoult's except one. I forgot the of that one....I think it may have been 19 minutes.
