My Charlie is a very picky eater.  Recently I figured out that he loves waffles soaked in bacon grease.  I was wondering if anyone had a recipe for waffles that would be good for a dog.  I usually use the Pioneer Complete Baking mix or also lately when in a hurry have bought the Central Market Organic Frozen Waffles but would like to try to make something more "dog friendly" for him to try.  Even if you don't have a recipe if you have any tips on what things to use to try to come up with one I can experiment with making a recipe.  Thanks for any help!

Have you made them with a whole wheat or flax seed flour? That might be an option. Personally, I wouldn't give him too much bacon grease. That's why he likes it. If you put bacon grease on paper, he would eat it but it wouldn't be too good for him. Maybe soak them in sodium free broth. Another idea is to add things to the mix, like you would for pancakes. Bananas, dried fruit, blueberries, craisins, even premium kibble could probably be added to the mix. So could chicken breast, ham, fish or beef. Many dogs love fish. Add tuna and see how he does. Just some ideas.
Thanks for the ideas!  I agree about the bacon grease.  I just put enough on to give it a little bacon flavor.  Maybe I could put little bits of bacon in the batter....hummmm.  I will try the other things too...except chicken, it doesn't agree with his tummy!  Thanks again Lynne!
