Whenever we get home after being gone, Daphne is so excited to greet us and she always comes running with a toy in her mouth. If I come in the door and surprise her, she jumps up, looks around for the nearest toy and brings it to me. If she has several toys lying around her it's so funny to watch her try to decide which one to grab and greet me with!

Awww, poor Banjo! I guess he misses you and he's punishing you for being gone by ignoring you. I used to have a poodle like that. He wasn't much for giving kisses either...ever!
Jack does the exact same thing! He greets us in the morning when we get up with a toy in his mouth and making a happy whining sound because he is so excited! I get a toy, my husband gets a toy and then he delivers one to my daughter, all with the same happy whining noise. He will keep it in his mouth and wait for you to take his gift before he goes on with his next delivery. If any of us goes out, he runs for a toy to give us when we walk in. If someone comes over, they too will each get a gift from Jack. It is funny when there are a few laying around and he has to choose which to give! I have no idea where he got this from but he never fails with his gift greeting! It's so funny to hear of another that does this!
It's the funniest thing! Like you, I have no idea where she got that idea from. It's like she's bringing us a little present. "Thank you for coming to see me"! Now that you mention it, Daphne gives them to visitors too. We don't get many visitors so I had to think about that one.
Haha....Lucca and Izzy do the same thing but they don't give it up to anyone!!! Every morning they hop in bed with a toy in their mouths. They come up together. You think they conspire with each other every morning and say "it's time to wake up mom and dad!!!! They always greet us at the door with a toy too. Our Golden retriever, Mia used to do the same thing. It's the retriever in them. They have to retrieve!! Now Ben, our 10 1/2 yo Golden doesn't have a retrieving bone in his body...lol.
LOL! ZOe does this too! She always picks up something when we get home. She doesn't give it to us tho. She just greets us with it, takes it outside with her, does her thing, comes back inside , and wants to be pet and cuddled all while she still has this toy in her mouth. Eventually Bender takes it from her because he's selfish but it's cute while she does it. Sometimes when there is no toy in view when we first get home, she will go look for one before she says hello.
Isn't that the cutest! Our Malibu with do this every time we come home. She always greets us with a stuffed animal. We call them her babies!
EVERY DAY!!!! It's hysterical to watch him scrounge around for a toy while we are standing at the backdoor trying to get it open!! He does circles & laps looking for anything to put in his mouth to come say hello : ) And if he can't find anything...he SMILES!!!! I couldn't love him more!!!
Stanlee has at least one item but most days two items in his mouth. Whatever is closest to him when we come home is what he carries around in his mouth. Actually, there is hardly a moment in every day that he DOESN'T have something in his mouth. He's learned shoes are a no, no but when that is the closest thing at hand.....nothing is sacred at our house.
Jewel does the same exact thing! Greets me with something in her mouth. A bone or toy and has to run looking for something if I have come home early. Once i put all my stuff down, she circles and wiggles like a cat around my legs while i pet her. It is the funniest thing. So happy to me. I just love it.
So cute! I love it too! Let's you know that someone missed you while you were gone. No matter how long you were gone!
